Building Better Sleep Nectar Mattress After a Year

With the Nectar Mattress as their flagship product, Nectar Sleep is a mattress and bedding company that is stationed in Palo Alto, California.

Nectar Sleep has three mattresses with different profiles: The Nectar, which has a 12” profile; the Nectar Premier, which has a 13” profile; and the Nectar Premier Copper, which has a 14” profile. And as mentioned before it is a three-layer, all-foam bed. It consists of a quilted cover and breathable base later, with the three layers of foam between: gel-infused memory foam, support memory foam, and high-density polyfoam. Remember, the thickness isn’t everything, so it’s good to dive into the different parts of the mattress.

Let’s dig into every aspect, shall we?

The Duvet

Removable and wash friendly, the cover is made of TENCEL lyocell and cotton. You get a soft feel on your body thanks to the pretty breathable and nice to the touch materials of the mattress.

Comfort Layer

Two comfort layers work hand-in-hand to give you not only comfort, but also a balance that helps you distribute your weight evenly throughout the entire mattress.

The first layer is a 1-inch top layer that’s made of quilted memory foam using a 4PCF Density, while the next layer is 3 inches and is made of 3.5PCF gel memory foam. Like a gentle embrace, this layer was made so that it emulats like you are being embraced This is turn helps stops pressure points from building up, can help manage bodily aches, and can help improve spinal alignment for side sleepers.

Transitional Layer

For the transitional layer, it’s a high-density memory foam which measures about 1.75 inches instead of the typical polyfoam other mattresses have. Thanks to this technology the mattress is capable of hugging your sleeping body without losing any of it’s firmness.

Support Layer

And finally, the support core. It contains a 2.2 PCF High-density polyfoam that’s about 5.25 inches thick. Along with the transitional layer, the polyfoam base gives the mattress a firmer foundation for the softer comfort layers. Because of this, you receive a balanced, medium-firm sense without undermining the support of the mattress as a whole.

How Does It Feel?

Taking it out for a spin — or rather, for a sleep — takes some time right out of the box. We suggest you order it in the morning and start setting up hours before sleeping since it will take exactly that, hours before it’ll expand and reach its full height.

Like a fine wine, it needs to breathe. Nectar Mattress After a Year

After letting it rest out of the box for a few hours, trying it out after a long day of impatiently waiting, you will feel a soft embrace start to surround you. It has a deep hug feeling to it that those who love sleeping “in” a bed rather than “on” it will really enjoy this one.

The mattress’ firmness can be described as medium, not too tough, not to soft, it feels perfectly balanced. A 6/10 if ever. Firmness though is very subjective, dependent not just on your preference, but also in your physicality. If you are a bit on the other hand, this may feel somewhat more firm for you than others might.

It’s All About Positioning

Just how does the Nectar mattress feel, that depends on what position you sleep in.

If you are a back sleeper, then the Nectar Mattress will feel fantastic for you. It gives you the support you need while keeping your spine in a perfect neutral position. Your lumbar area however may need extra support, in case it sinks a bit deeper but otherwise, it’s great for back sleepers.

For side sleepers, the memory foam’s sink allows your shoulders and hips to feel relief as you shift your weight down. This mattress is a perfect option for side sleepers as the uniform pressure release of the bed counters the adverse effects side sleeping might have.

Stomach sleepers may not choose this mattress. You’ll definitely feel a sink into your abdomen area with this place, and you’ll need to be very careful with that because it might impact your body adversely with time. For those who sleep on their stomachs, we recommend that you opt for a mattress that is harder than this one as it may lead to adverse effects.

Couples will appreciate the bed a lot. Apart from being spacious enough to hold both of your comfy, moving around and changing positions will not be as bothersome with your partner due to its movement isolation and edge support. Nectar Mattress After a Year

Body Types for Nectar

For a more comprehensive breakdown, we’ll be getting into body types and how different body types respond differently to the Nectar Mattress.

The Lightweight Sleeper

As expected, a light sleeper will find the Nectar to be firm on the body. They still experienced the “hugging” sensation, but it was not a very profound one. The experience can be described as a kind of “floating” feel to it. Usually, these kinds of sleepers need a soft to firm bed if they need that deep body hug.

However, if you’re a light sleeper and you’re searching for a firm mattress which still has a little that hugging feel, then the Nectar Mattress would be great.

The Typical Sleeper

The average sleeper thought that the Nectar mattress was just as advertised — firm with a deep, supportive feel that lets you sink in just enough, without it feeling like you’re falling into the bed. There was no sagging, superior body relief and no matter the sleeping position, it was great.

Heavy Sleepers

Although still quite supportive, the Nectar Mattress was for those heavy sleepers who wanted something with medium firmness. There’ll be a bit of sagging when the mattress starts to hug and shape around heavyweight sleepers, but other than that, if this firmness is your preference, it’s a great pick.

The Sleep Test

Although we tried to get to as much as we can with our review, we know really having the ability to feel the mattress for yourself, giving it an actual test is the best method to ascertain if it is for you. As much as we would want to give you a decision, it’s still all about your preference and we can only act as mediators of information.

Your right mix of what you want and want to feel every night.

As such, there are generally 90 to 120-day sleep trials for most mattresses. Nectar wanted to one-up that, and provides a 365 day evaluation period before fully committing to it. Think of it as getting to know your mattress long term before putting a ring on it, as opposed to popping the question after 3 or 4 months.

It’s a great comfort to know that option is there, just in the event of anything.

Final Thoughts: Where Dreams Begin Nectar Mattress After a Year

So is this the mattress for you?

If the mattress you’re looking for is one that’s not too firm, as well as you are not a stomach sleeper, then the Nectar Mattress may as well be the best addition to your sleeping apparatus.
