Like Goldilocks preference in soup, sleep is all about finding out which mattress is just right for you.
If you receive too little of it, it is bad. You’re tired, you’re irate and it could be the first step to a ruined day. If you get too much of it, you’re weirdly tired, maybe even a bit lethargic. You might have missed some calls, or maybe even a commitment with a buddy, and your day’s wasted.
Preferred sleeping settings also affect the quality of sleep we get as not sleeping the ideal way can affect how well our sleep is.

With their headquarters in Palo Alto, California, Nectar Sleep is a mattress and bedding company that designed the Nectar Mattress as their flagship memory foam bed.
The height of the mattress will depend on which type you’ll choose. There’s The Nectar, which is a 12″ profile; the Nectar Premier, which has a 13″ profile; and the Nectar Premier Copper, which has a 14″ profile. All mattresses have the signature three-layer all-foam bed which has a gel memory foam, dynamic support memory foam, and high-core memory foam; these three layers are sandwiched by a quilted cool cover and a Shift-resistant lower cover. Remember, the thickness isn’t everything, so it’s good to dive into the different parts of the mattress.
Let’s dig into every facet, shall we?
Removable and wash friendly, the cover is made from TENCEL lyocell and cotton. Since both of the materials are pretty breathable and feel nice to the touch, you get a wonderful feel on your body.
Two comfort layers work hand-in-hand to give you not only comfort, but also a balance that helps you distribute your weight evenly throughout the entire mattress.
The first layer is a 1-inch top layer that is made from quilted memory foam with a 4PCF Density, while the second layer is 3 inches and is made of 3.5PCF gel memory foam. Like a gentle embrace, this layer was made so that it feels like you are being hugged This is turn helps stops pressure points from building up, helps manage bodily aches, and may even help improve spinal alignment for side sleepers.
For the transitional layer, it’s a high-density memory foam which measures about 1.75 inches instead of the usual polyfoam other mattresses have. Because of this technology the mattress is able to press against your sleeping body without losing any of it’s firmness.
And finally, the support center. It contains a 2.2 PCF High-density polyfoam that’s about 5.25 inches thick. Together with the transitional layer, the polyfoam base gives the mattress a firmer base for the softer comfort layers. As a result of this, you receive a balanced, medium-firm sense without undermining the support of the mattress as a whole.
What’s it like?
Taking it out for a spin — or rather, for a sleep — takes some time right from the box. We suggest you order it in the morning and start setting up hours before sleeping since it will take precisely that, hours before it’ll expand and reach its entire height.
Like a good wine, it first needs to breathe. Amazon Queen Mattress Nectar
As soon as you lie down, give it a few seconds and before you know it, the memory foam will start kicking into high gear and you’ll feel a soft embrace over your body. It has a deep embrace feeling to it that people who love sleeping “in” a bed rather than “on” it will love this one.
The mattress’ firmness can be described as medium, not too hard, not to soft, it feels perfectly balanced. A 6/10 if ever. Firmness though is quite subjective, dependent not just on your preference, but also in your physicality. If you’re a bit on the lighter side, this may feel somewhat more firm for you than others would.
It’s about Positioning
Just how does the Nectar mattress feel, that depends on what position you sleep in.
If you’re a back sleeper, then the Nectar Mattress will feel fantastic for you. It gives you the support you need while keeping your spine in a perfect neutral position. Your lumbar area however may need extra support, if it sinks a bit deeper but it’s terrific for back sleepers.
For side sleepers, the memory foam’s sink allows your shoulders and hips to feel relief as you shift your weight down. The uniform pressure release of the mattress really counters the negative impact this sleeping place could have on your body, so this bed is alreadylooking like a wonderful pick for this position.
Stomach sleepers may not want this mattress. You’ll definitely feel a sink in your abdomen area with this position, and you’ll need to be very careful with this since it may impact your body adversely with time. A firmer mattress might be better suited to those who enjoy sleeping this way.
Having a restless partner on the same mattress as you won’t be as cumbersome as with another mattress thanks to Nectar’s motion isolation and edge support features, so both you and your partner can wiggle about without the other knowing. Amazon Queen Mattress Nectar
Some Bodies to Love
For a more comprehensive breakdown, we are going to be getting into body types and how different body types respond differently to the Nectar Mattress.
The Lightweight Sleeper
As expected, a light sleeper will discover the Nectar to be firm on the body. They experienced the “hugging” sensation, but it wasn’t a very deep one. The experience could be described as a sort of “floating” feel to it. Usually, these kinds of sleepers require a soft to firm bed if they want that deep body hug.
However, if you are a light sleeper and you’re looking for a firm mattress which still has a bit of that hugging feel, then the Nectar Mattress would be great.
The Average Sleeper
The ordinary sleeper thought that the Nectar mattress was exactly as advertised — firm with a deep, supportive feel that lets you sink in just enough, without it feeling like you are falling into the bed. They felt that it was a good product because no sagging was felt, the body relief it provided after a long day was superior regardless of which sleeping position they went to bed in.
For heavy sleepers who desire for something more firm, the Nectar Mattress may be the perfect fitThere will be a little sagging when the mattress starts to hug and shape around heavyweight sleepers, but besides that, if this stability is your preference, it’s a wonderful pick.
Sleeping on the Nectar Mattress
Although we tried to get to as much as we can with our reviewwe know really being able to feel the mattress on your own, giving it a real test is the best way to ascertain if it is for you. We can only act as a guide since, in the end of the day, it is all about your own preference.
Your right mix of everything you need and want to feel each evening.
As such, there are generally 90 to 120-day sleep trials for most mattresses. Nectar desired to one-up that, and offers a 365 day evaluation period before fully committing to it. It’s like properly getting to know your bed over a long period of time instead of just after a few weeks of seeing each other.
It’s a great comfort to know that that option is there, only in case of anything.
