With the Nectar Mattress as their flagship product, Nectar Sleep is a mattress and bedding firm that is stationed in Palo Alto, California.

Nectar Sleep has three mattresses with different profiles: The Nectar, which has a 12” profile; the Nectar Premier, which has a 13” profile; and the Nectar Premier Copper, which has a 14” profile. And as mentioned before it’s a three-layer, all-foam bed. It consists of a quilted cover and breathable base later, with the three layers of foam between: gel-infused memory foam, support memory foam, and high-density polyfoam. Remember, the thickness isn’t everything, so it’s good to dive into the different parts of the mattress.

Let’s dig into every aspect, shall we?

The Cover

Removable and wash friendly, the cover is made from TENCEL lyocell and cotton. You get a soft feel on your body thanks to the pretty breathable and nice to the touch materials of the mattress.

The Layer for Comfort

Two comfort layers work hand-in-hand to provide you not just comfort, but also a balance that makes it possible to distribute your weight evenly throughout the whole mattress.

The first layer is a 1-inch top layer that’s made of quilted memory foam using a 4PCF Density, while the next layer is 3 inches and is made of 3.5PCF gel memory foam. They were designed this way so that when you sleep on it, it feels like its hugging your body. This is turn helps stops pressure points from building up, can help handle bodily aches, and can help improve spinal alignment for side sleepers.

Transitional Layer

For the transitional layer, it has a high-density memory foam that measures about 1.75 inches rather than the typical polyfoam other mattresses have. Thanks to this technology the mattress is able to press against your sleeping body without losing any of it’s firmness.

Support Layer

And finally, the support core. It contains a 2.2 PCF High-density polyfoam that’s about 5.25 inches thick. Together with the transitional layer, the polyfoam base gives the mattress a firmer foundation for the softer comfort layers. As a result of this, you receive a balanced, medium-firm sense without compromising the support of the mattress as a whole.

What’s it like?

Taking it out for a spin — or rather, for a sleep — takes some time right from the box. We suggest you purchase it in the morning and begin setting up hours before sleeping since it is going to take precisely that, hours before it’ll expand and reach its full height.

Like a good wine, it first needs to breathe. Bear Mattress Compared to Nectar.

After letting it rest out of the box for a few hours, trying it out after a long day of impatiently waiting, you will feel a soft embrace start to surround you. It’s a deep embrace feeling to it that people who love sleeping “in” a bed instead of “on” it will really enjoy this one.

Concerning firmness, it is around medium firmness — balanced, in that regard. A 6/10 if ever. Firmness though is very subjective, dependent not just on your preference, but also in your physicality. If you’re a bit on the other hand, this may feel a bit more firm for you than others would.

It’s about Positioning

So how does the Nectar mattress feel, that depends on what position you sleep in.

If you are a back sleeper, then the Nectar Mattress will feel fantastic for you. It gives you the support you need while keeping your spine in a nice neutral position. Your lumbar area however may need extra support, in case it sinks a bit deeper but it’s terrific for back sleepers.

For side sleepers, the memory foam’s conforms itself which allows your shoulders and hips to feel relief as you shift your weight down. This mattress is a great choice for side sleepers as the uniform pressure release of the bed counters the adverse effects side sleeping might have.

Stomach sleepers may not want this mattress. You’ll definitely feel a sink in your abdomen area with this position, and you’re going to need to be very careful with this because it might impact your body adversely over time. A firmer mattress might be better suited to those who like sleeping this way.

Having a restless partner on the same bed as you won’t be as cumbersome as with another mattress thanks to Nectar’s motion isolation and edge support features, so both you and your partner can move about without the other knowing. Bear Mattress Compared to Nectar.

Body Types for Nectar

For a more comprehensive breakdown, we are going to be getting into body types and how different body types react differently to the Nectar Mattress.

The Lightweight Sleeper

The lightweight sleeper will discover the mattress to be a small tough, which is to be expected. They experienced the “hugging” sensation, but it was not a very deep one. The experience could be described as a kind of “floating” feel to it. Usually, such sleepers need a soft to firm bed if they want that deep body hug.

However, if you’re a light sleeper and you’re looking for a firm bed that still has a little that hugging feel, then the Nectar Mattress will be great.

The Typical Sleeper

The ordinary sleeper thought that the Nectar mattress was just as advertised — firm with a deep, supportive feel that lets you sink in just enough, without it feeling like you are falling to the bed. They felt that it was a good product because no sagging was felt, the body relief it provided after a long day was superior no matter which sleeping position they went to bed in.

Heavy Sleepers

For heavy sleepers who desire for something more firm, the Nectar Mattress may be the perfect fitThere will be a bit of sagging when the mattress starts to hug and shape around heavyweight sleepers, but besides that, if this firmness is your preference, it is a wonderful pick.

Sleeping on the Nectar Mattress

Although we tried to cover as much as we can with our review, we know really being able to feel the mattress for yourself, giving it an actual test is the best method to ascertain if it’s for you. We can only act as a guide since, in the end of the day, it’s all about your preference.

Your right mix of what you need and want to feel each evening.

As such, there are usually 90 to 120-day sleep trials for most mattresses. Nectar wanted to one-up that, and offers a 365 day evaluation period before fully committing to it. Consider it as dating your mattress long term before proposing, rather than popping the question after 3 or 4 months.

It’s a wonderful comfort to know that option is there, only in case of anything.
