Like Goldilocks preference in soup, sleep is all about figuring out which mattress is just right for you.
If you get too little of it, it’s bad. You’re tired, you’re irate and it could be the first step to a ruined day. If you get too much of it, then you are weirdly tired, maybe even a bit lethargic. Lacking sleep could cause you to miss out a perfectly good day of commitments.
Then there is your personal sleeping style and arrangement to think about — because all of us know if we don’t sleep the right way, which is our own way, then something will fail.
Much like baking, you have to get everything right, to come off with that perfect batch of “sleep.” In the grand scheme of things, mattresses play a large role in that. It is one of the key ingredients in a good night’s sleep.
And today we’re reviewing one that’s out to establish itself as one of the top mattresses out there — The Nectar Mattress. It is a three-layer memory foam mattress with mid-level toughness to cover a wide range of people’s sleeping preferences. High quality, smartly constructed and designed to help give you the best sleep you can request.
Does it succeed? Is it all that? We are here to help you find out.
Before we begin, in case you’re in a hurry, or just prefer a more visual review, here is a video below by Kelly and Mar from the Nectar Sleep YouTube channel:
Making Sleep Better How Long Until Nectar Mattress Expanse
With the Nectar Mattress as their flagship product, Nectar Sleep is a bedding and mattress company that is stationed in Palo Alto, California.
The height of the mattress will depend on which type you’ll choose. There’s The Nectar, which is a 12″ profile; the Nectar Premier, which has a 13″ profile; and the Nectar Premier Copper, which has a 14″ profile. All mattresses have the patented three-layer all-foam bed which has a gel memory foam, dynamic support memory foam, and high-core memory foam; these three layers are sandwiched by a quilted cool cover and a Shift-resistant lower cover. Remember, the thickness isn’t everything, so it’s good to dive into the different parts of the mattress.
Let’s dig into every facet, shall we?
Removable and wash friendly, the cover is made of TENCEL lyocell and cotton. You get a soft feel on your body thanks to the fairly breathable and nice to the touch components of the mattress.
The Layer for Comfort
Helping you distribute your weight for a more comfy sleep, Nectar Mattress has two layers that takes into account comfort and proper sleep posture.
The first layer is a 1-inch top layer that is made of quilted memory foam with a 4PCF Density, while the second layer is 3 inches and is made of 3.5PCF gel memory foam. Like a gentle embrace, this layer was made so that it emulats like you are being embraced This is turn helps stops pressure points from building up, can help handle bodily aches, and can even help improve spinal alignment for side sleepers.
For the transitional layer, it’s a high-density memory foam that measures about 1.75 inches instead of the typical polyfoam other mattresses have. Because of this technology the mattress is able to press against your sleeping body without losing any of it’s firmness.
And finally, the support center. It contains a 2.2 PCF High-density polyfoam that is about 5.25 inches thick. Together with the transitional layer, the polyfoam base gives the mattress a firmer foundation for the softer comfort layers. As a result of this, you get a balanced, medium-firm sense without compromising the support of the mattress as a whole.
What’s it like?
Taking it out for a spin — or rather, for a sleep — takes a while right out of the box. We suggest you purchase it in the morning and begin setting up hours before sleeping since it will take exactly that, hours before it’ll expand and reach its entire height.
Like a good wine, it first needs to breathe. How Long Until Nectar Mattress Expanse
After letting it rest out of the box for a few hours, lying down after a long day of impatiently waiting, you will feel a soft embrace start to surround you. It’s a deep embrace feeling to it that people who love sleeping “in” a bed rather than “on” it will love this one.
In terms of firmness, it’s around medium firmness — balanced, in that respect. A 6/10 if ever. Firmness though is very subjective, dependent not only on your taste, but also on your physicality. If you’re a bit on the other hand, this may feel somewhat more firm for you than others would.
Positioning is the Key
Just how does the Nectar mattress feel, depending on what position you sleep in.
If you’re a back sleeper, then the Nectar Mattress will feel fantastic for you. It gives you the support you need while keeping your spine in a perfect neutral position. Your lumbar area however may need additional support, in case it sinks a bit deeper but it’s great for back sleepers.
For side sleepers, the memory foam’s conforms itself which allows your shoulders and hips to feel relief as you shift your weight down. This mattress is a great choice for side sleepers as the uniform pressure release of the bed counters the adverse effects side sleeping might have.
Stomach sleepers may not choose this mattress. You’ll certainly feel a sink into your abdomen area with this place, and you’re going to need to be very careful with that since it might impact your body adversely over time. A firmer mattress might be better suited to those who like sleeping this way.
Having a restless partner on the same bed as you won’t be as annoying as with another mattress thanks to Nectar’s motion isolation and edge support features, so both you and your partner can wiggle about without the other finding out. How Long Until Nectar Mattress Expanse
Some Bodies to Love
For a more comprehensive breakdown, we are going to be getting into body types and how different body types respond differently to the Nectar Mattress.
The Lightweight Sleeper
The lightweight sleeper will find the mattress quite small firm, which is to be expected. They still experienced the “hugging” sensation, but it was not a very deep one. The experience can be described as a sort of “floating” feel to it. Usually, such sleepers need a soft to firm bed if they need that deep body hug.
However, if you’re a light sleeper and you’re looking for a firm bed that still has a bit of that hugging feel, then the Nectar Mattress would be great.
The Typical Sleeper
The ordinary sleeper thought that the Nectar mattress was exactly as advertised — company with a deep, supportive feel that lets you sink in just enough, without it feeling like you’re falling into the bed. They felt that it was a good product because no sagging was felt, the body relief it provided after a long day was great regardless of which sleeping position they went to bed in.
Although still very supportive, the Nectar Mattress was more for those heavy sleepers who wanted something with moderate stability. There’ll be a little sagging when the mattress begins to hug and shape around heavyweight sleepers, but besides that, if this stability is your preference, it’s a wonderful pick.
The Sleep Test
Although we tried to cover as much as we can with our reviewwe know really being able to feel the mattress for yourself, giving it a real test is the best way to determine whether it is for you. We can only act as a guide since, at the end of the day, it is all about your own preference.
Your right mix of everything you want and want to feel every night.
As such, there are usually 90 to 120-day sleep trials for most mattresses. Nectar wanted to one-up that, and provides a 365 day test period before fully committing to it. It’s like properly getting to know your mattress over a long period of time rather than of just after a few weeks of seeing each other.
It’s a wonderful comfort to know that option is there, only in the event of anything.
