Making Sleep Better Is Nectar Bed or Tuft and Needle Better

With their headquarters in Palo Alto, California, Nectar Sleep is a mattress and bedding firm that designed the Nectar Mattress as their flagship memory foam bed.

The height of the mattress will depend on which type you’ll choose. There’s The Nectar, which is a 12″ profile; the Nectar Premier, which has a 13″ profile; and the Nectar Premier Copper, which has a 14″ profile. All mattresses have the signature three-layer all-foam bed which has a gel memory foam, dynamic support memory foam, and high-core memory foam; these three layers are sandwiched by a quilted cool cover and a Shift-resistant lower cover. Remember, the thickness isn’t everything, so it’s good to dive into the different parts of the mattress.

Let’s dig into each aspect, shall we?

The Duvet

Removable and wash friendly, the cover is made from TENCEL lyocell and cotton. Since both of the materials are pretty breathable and feel nice to the touch, you get a wonderful feel on your body.

The Layer for Comfort

Helping you distribute your weight for a more comfy sleep, Nectar Mattress has two layers that prioritize comfort and proper sleep posture.

The first layer is a 1-inch top layer that’s made of quilted memory foam using a 4PCF Density, while the second layer is 3 inches and is made of 3.5PCF gel memory foam. They were created this way so that when you sleep on it, it feels like its hugging your body. This is turn helps stops pressure points from building up, can help handle bodily aches, and can even help improve spinal alignment for side sleepers.

Transitional Layer

For the transitional layer, it’s a high-density memory foam that measures about 1.75 inches rather than the typical polyfoam other mattresses have. Thanks to this technology the mattress is capable of hugging your sleeping body without losing any of it’s firmness.

Support Layer

And finally, the service core. Along with the transitional layer, the polyfoam base gives the mattress a firmer foundation for the softer comfort layers. Because of this, you receive a balanced, medium-firm sense without undermining the support of the mattress as a whole.

What’s it like?

Taking it out for a spin — or rather, for a sleep — takes a while right from the box. We suggest you order it in the morning and begin setting up hours before sleeping since it is going to take exactly that, hours before it is going to expand and reach its full height.

Like a fine wine, it needs to breathe. Is Nectar Bed or Tuft and Needle Better

After letting it rest out of the box for a few hours, lying down after a long day of patiently waiting, you will feel a tender embrace start to surround you. It has a deep embrace feeling to it that people who love sleeping “in” a bed rather than “on” it will love this one.

Concerning firmness, it is around medium firmness — balanced, in that regard. A 6/10 if ever. Firmness though is quite subjective, dependent not only on your preference, but also on your physicality. If you’re a bit on the other hand, this may feel somewhat more firm for you than others would.

It’s All About Positioning

So how does the Nectar mattress feel, that depends on what position you sleep in.

If you are a back sleeper, then the Nectar Mattress will feel fantastic for you. There’s no need to worry about comfort as the mattress is designed to keep you in the perfect position Your pelvic region however may need extra support, in case it sinks a bit deeper but it’s great for back sleepers.

For side sleepers, the memory foam’s conforms itself which allows your shoulders and hips to feel relief as you shift your weight down. The uniform pressure release of the mattress counters the negative effect this sleeping position could have on your body, so this bed is alreadylooking like a great pick for this position.

Stomach sleepers may not choose this mattress. You’ll certainly feel a sink into your abdomen area with this position, and you’ll need to be very careful with this since it might impact your body adversely over time. A firmer mattress might be better suited to people who enjoy sleeping this way.

Having a restless spouse on the same mattress as you won’t be as annoying as with another mattress thanks to Nectar’s motion isolation and edge support features, so both you and your partner can move about without the other finding out. Is Nectar Bed or Tuft and Needle Better

Some Bodies to Love

For a more comprehensive breakdown, we’ll be getting into body types and how different body types react differently to the Nectar Mattress.

The Lightweight Sleeper

The lightweight sleeper will find the mattress quite little firm, which is to be expected. They still experienced the “hugging” sensation, but it was not a very deep one. The experience can be described as a kind of “floating” feel to it. Usually, such sleepers need a soft to firm bed if they want that deep body hug.

However, if you are a light sleeper and you’re searching for a firm mattress which still has a bit of that hugging feel, then the Nectar Mattress would be great.

The Typical Sleeper

The average sleeper thought that the Nectar mattress was exactly as advertised — firm with a deep, supportive feel that lets you sink in just enough, without it feeling like you are falling to the bed. There was no sagging, superior body relief and no matter the sleeping place, it was great.

Heavy Sleepers

Although still very supportive, the Nectar Mattress was more for those heavy sleepers who wanted something with moderate stability. There’ll be a bit of sagging when the mattress begins to hug and shape around heavyweight sleepers, but other than that, if this firmness is your preference, it is a great pick.

Sleeping on the Nectar Mattress

Although we tried to cover as much as we could with our trial , we know actually having the ability to feel the mattress on your own, giving it a real test is the best way to determine if it is for you. We can only act as a guide since, in the end of the day, it is all about your own preference.

Your right mix of everything you need and want to feel every night.

As such, there are usually 90 to 120-day sleep trials for most mattresses. Nectar wanted to one-up that, and provides a 365 day test period before fully committing to it. It’s like properly getting to know your bed over a long period of time rather than of just after a few weeks of seeing each other.

It’s a wonderful comfort to know that that option is there, just in case of anything.
