Building Better Sleep Layla Mattress Versus Nectar

With the Nectar Mattress as their flagship product, Nectar Sleep is a bedding and mattress firm that is stationed in Palo Alto, California.

The height of the mattress will depend on which type you’ll choose. There’s The Nectar, which is a 12″ profile; the Nectar Premier, which has a 13″ profile; and the Nectar Premier Copper, which has a 14″ profile. All mattresses have the patented three-layer all-foam bed which consists of a gel memory foam, dynamic support memory foam, and high-core memory foam; these three layers are sandwiched by a quilted cool cover and a Shift-resistant lower cover. Remember, the thickness isn’t everything, so it’s good to dive into the different parts of the mattress.

Let’s dig into each aspect, shall we?

The Cover

Removable and wash friendly, the cover is made of TENCEL lyocell and cotton. Since both of the components are pretty breathable and feel nice to the touch, you get a wonderful feel on your body.

The Layer for Comfort

Helping you distribute your weight for a more comfy sleep, Nectar Mattress has two layers that takes into account comfort and proper sleep posture.

The first layer is a 1-inch top layer that’s made of quilted memory foam with a 4PCF Density, while the next layer is 3 inches and is made of 3.5PCF gel memory foam. They were created this way so that when you sleep on it, it seems like its hugging your body. This is turn helps stops pressure points from building up, helps manage bodily aches, and can help improve spinal alignment for side sleepers.

Transitional Layer

For the transitional layer, it’s a high-density memory foam which measures about 1.75 inches instead of the typical polyfoam other mattresses have. This improvement of the foam enhances how the mattress hugs your body without it sagging too much.

Support Layer

And finally, the service center. Along with the transitional layer, the polyfoam base gives the mattress a firmer foundation for the softer comfort layers. Because of this, you get a balanced, medium-firm feel without compromising the support of the mattress as a whole.

What’s it like?

Taking it out for a spin — or rather, for a sleep — takes a while right out of the box. We suggest you order it in the morning and begin setting up hours before sleeping since it is going to take exactly that, hours before it is going to expand and reach its full height.

Like a fine wine, it needs to breathe. Layla Mattress Versus Nectar

After letting it rest out of the box for a few hours, trying it out after a long day of impatiently waiting, you will feel a soft embrace start to surround you. It has a deep hug feeling to it that people who love sleeping “in” a bed rather than “on” it will love this one.

Concerning firmness, it’s around medium firmness — balanced, in that respect. A 6/10 if ever. Firmness though is very subjective, dependent not just on your preference, but also on your physicality. If you are a bit on the other hand, this may feel somewhat more firm for you than others would.

Positioning is the Key

Just how does the Nectar mattress feel, depending on what position you sleep in.

If you are a back sleeper, then the Nectar Mattress will feel fantastic for you. It gives you the support you need while keeping your spine in a perfect neutral position. Your pelvic region however may need additional support, in case it sinks a bit deeper but otherwise, it’s terrific for back sleepers.

For side sleepers, the memory foam’s conforms itself which allows your shoulders and hips to feel relief as you shift your weight down. The uniform pressure release of the mattress counters the negative impact this sleeping place could have on your body, so this bed is looking like a great pick for this position.

Stomach sleepers may not choose this mattress. You’ll certainly feel a sink in your abdomen area with this position, and you’ll have to be very careful with this since it may affect your body adversely with time. A firmer mattress may be better suited to people who enjoy sleeping this way.

Having a restless partner on the same mattress as you won’t be as cumbersome as with another mattress thanks to Nectar’s motion isolation and edge support features, so both you and your partner can wiggle about without the other knowing. Layla Mattress Versus Nectar

Body Types for Nectar

For a more comprehensive breakdown, we’ll be getting into body types and how different body types react differently to the Nectar Mattress.

The Lightweight Sleeper

As expected, a light sleeper will find the Nectar to be firm on the body. They experienced the “hugging” sensation, but it was not a very deep one. The experience could be described as a kind of “floating” feel to it. Usually, these kinds of sleepers need a soft to firm bed if they need that deep body hug.

However, if you’re a light sleeper and you’re searching for a firm mattress which still has a little that hugging feel, then the Nectar Mattress will be great.

The Typical Sleeper

The ordinary sleeper discovered that the Nectar mattress was just as advertised — company with a deep, supportive feel that lets you sink in just enough, without it feeling like you’re falling to the bed. There was no sagging, good body relief and regardless of the sleeping position, it was great.

Heavyweight Sleepers

Although still very supportive, the Nectar Mattress was more for those heavy sleepers who wanted something with medium firmness. There’ll be a little sagging when the mattress starts to hug and form around heavyweight sleepers, but other than that, if this firmness is your preference, it is a great pick.

The Sleep Test

Although we tried to cover as much as we could with our reviewwe know really being able to feel the mattress for yourself, giving it an actual test is the best way to determine whether it’s for you. We can only act as a guide because, at the end of the day, it’s all about your preference.

Your right mix of what you want and want to feel each evening.

As such, there are generally 90 to 120-day sleep trials for most mattresses. Nectar desired to one-up that, and offers a 365 day test period before fully committing to it. Consider it as dating your mattress long term before putting a ring on it, rather than popping the question after 3 or 4 months.

It’s a wonderful comfort to know that option is there, only in the event of anything.
