Before we begin, in case you’re in a rush, or just prefer a more visual review, here is a video below by Kelly and Mar from the Nectar Sleep YouTube channel:

Making Sleep Better Nectar Bed Stiffness

With their headquarters in Palo Alto, California, Nectar Sleep is a bedding and mattress company that designed the Nectar Mattress as their flagship memory foam bed.

Nectar Sleep has three mattresses with different profiles: The Nectar, which has a 12” profile; the Nectar Premier, which has a 13” profile; and the Nectar Premier Copper, which has a 14” profile. And as mentioned earlier it’s a three-layer, all-foam bed. It has a quilted cover and breathable base later, with the three layers of foam between: gel-infused memory foam, support memory foam, and high-density polyfoam. Remember, the thickness isn’t everything, so it’s good to dive into the different parts of the mattress.

Let’s dig into each facet, shall we?

The Cover

Removable and wash friendly, the cover is made from TENCEL lyocell and cotton. Since both of the materials are pretty breathable and feel nice to the touch, you get a wonderful feel on your body.

The Layer for Comfort

Making it possible to distribute your weight for a more comfy sleep, Nectar Mattress has two layers that prioritize comfort and proper sleep posture.

The first layer is a 1-inch top layer that’s made of quilted memory foam with a 4PCF Density, while the next layer is 3 inches and is made of 3.5PCF gel memory foam. They were designed this way so that when you sleep on it, it feels like its embracing your body. This is turn helps stops pressure points from building up, can help manage bodily aches, and can help improve spinal alignment for side sleepers.

Transitional Layer

For the transitional layer, it has a high-density memory foam that measures about 1.75 inches rather than the typical polyfoam other mattresses have. Because of this technology the mattress is able to press against your sleeping body without losing any of it’s firmness.

Support Layer

And finally, the support core. It contains a 2.2 PCF High-density polyfoam that is about 5.25 inches thick. Along with the transitional layer, the polyfoam base gives the mattress a firmer base for the softer comfort layers. Because of this, you receive a balanced, medium-firm sense without undermining the support of the mattress as a whole.

How Does It Feel?

Taking it out for a spin — or rather, for a sleep — takes a while right from the box. We suggest you order it in the morning and start setting up hours before sleeping since it will take precisely that, hours before it is going to expand and reach its full height.

Like a fine wine, it needs to breathe. Nectar Bed Stiffness

After letting it rest out of the box for a few hours, lying down after a long day of patiently waiting, you will feel a soft embrace start to surround you. It has a deep hug feeling to it that those who love sleeping “in” a bed rather than “on” it will love this one.

The mattress’ firmness can be described as medium, not too hard, not to soft, it feels perfectly balanced. A 6/10 if ever. Firmness though is very subjective, dependent not just on your preference, but also in your physicality. If you are a bit on the other hand, this may feel somewhat more firm to you than others might.

It’s about Positioning

So how does the Nectar mattress feel, that depends on what position you sleep in.

If you are a back sleeper, then the Nectar Mattress will feel fantastic for you. There’s no need to think about comfort as the mattress is designed to keep you in the perfect position Your lumbar area however may need extra support, if it sinks a bit deeper but otherwise, it’s terrific for back sleepers.

For side sleepers, the memory foam’s conforms itself which allows your shoulders and hips to feel relief as you shift your weight down. The uniform pressure release of the mattress really counters the negative effect this sleeping position could have on your body, so this bed is looking like a great choice for this position.

Stomach sleepers may not choose this mattress. You’ll definitely feel a sink in your abdomen area with this position, and you’re going to need to be very careful with this since it might affect your body adversely with time. For those who sleep on their stomachs, we would recommend that you opt for a mattress that is harder than this one as it may lead to adverse effects.

Having a restless partner on the same bed as you won’t be as cumbersome as with another mattress thanks to Nectar’s motion isolation and edge support features, so both you and your partner can wiggle about without the other knowing. Nectar Bed Stiffness

Some Bodies to Love

For a more comprehensive breakdown, we’ll be getting into body types and how different body types respond differently to the Nectar Mattress.

The Lightweight Sleeper

The lightweight sleeper will discover the mattress quite small tough, which is to be expected. They still experienced the “hugging” sensation, but it wasn’t a very deep one. The experience can be described as a kind of “floating” feel to it. Usually, such sleepers require a soft to firm bed if they need that deep body hug.

However, if you are a light sleeper and you’re searching for a firm mattress which still has a little that hugging feel, then the Nectar Mattress would be great.

The Typical Sleeper

The average sleeper discovered that the Nectar mattress was just as advertised — firm with a deep, supportive feel that lets you sink in just enough, without it feeling like you are falling into the bed. There was no sagging, superior body relief and no matter the sleeping place, it was good.

Heavyweight Sleepers

For heavy sleepers who desire for something more firm, the Nectar Mattress may be the perfect fitThere will be a little sagging when the mattress begins to hug and shape around heavyweight sleepers, but besides that, if this firmness is your preference, it is a great pick.

The Sleep Test

Although we tried to cover as much as we could with our trial , we know actually having the ability to feel the mattress on your own, giving it an actual test is the best method to ascertain whether it’s for you. We can only act as a guide since, at the end of the day, it is all about your own preference.

Your right mix of what you want and want to feel every evening.

As such, there are generally 90 to 120-day sleep trials for most mattresses. Nectar desired to one-up that, and provides a 365 day evaluation period before fully committing to it. Consider it as getting to know your mattress long term before putting a ring on it, rather than popping the question after 3 or 4 months.

It’s a wonderful comfort to know that option is there, just in case of anything.
