Building Better Sleep Nectar Bed Too Firm

With the Nectar Mattress as their flagship product, Nectar Sleep is a bedding and mattress firm that is stationed in Palo Alto, California.

The height of the mattress will depend on which type you’ll choose. There’s The Nectar, which is a 12″ profile; the Nectar Premier, which has a 13″ profile; and the Nectar Premier Copper, which has a 14″ profile. All mattresses have the patented three-layer all-foam bed which consists of a gel memory foam, dynamic support memory foam, and high-core memory foam; these three layers are sandwiched by a quilted cool cover and a Shift-resistant lower cover. Remember, the thickness isn’t everything, so it’s good to dive into the different parts of the mattress.

Let’s dig into each aspect, shall we?

The Cover

Removable and wash friendly, the cover is made from TENCEL lyocell and cotton. Since both of the materials are pretty breathable and feel nice to the touch, you get a nice feel on your body.

Comfort Layer

Two comfort layers work hand-in-hand to provide you not just comfort, but also a balance that helps you distribute your weight evenly throughout the entire mattress.

The first layer is a 1-inch top layer that’s made from quilted memory foam using a 4PCF Density, while the next layer is 3 inches and is made of 3.5PCF gel memory foam. They were designed this way so that when you sleep on it, it feels like its hugging your body. This is turn helps stops pressure points from building up, helps manage bodily aches, and can help improve spinal alignment for side sleepers.

Transitional Layer

For the transitional layer, it has a high-density memory foam that measures about 1.75 inches rather than the typical polyfoam other mattresses have. Because of this technology the mattress is capable of hugging your sleeping body without losing any of it’s firmness.

Support Layer

And finally, the support center. Together with the transitional layer, the polyfoam base gives the mattress a firmer foundation for the softer comfort layers. As a result of this, you receive a balanced, medium-firm feel without undermining the support of the mattress as a whole.

What’s it like?

Taking it out for a spin — or rather, for a sleep — takes some time right out of the box. We suggest you order it in the morning and start setting up hours before sleeping because it will take exactly that, hours before it’ll expand and reach its entire height.

Like a good wine, it needs to breathe. Nectar Bed Too Firm

After letting it rest out of the box for a few hours, lying down after a long day of patiently waiting, you will feel a tender embrace start to surround you. It has a deep hug feeling to it that those who love sleeping “in” a bed rather than “on” it will love this one.

Concerning firmness, it is around medium firmness — balanced, in that respect. A 6/10 if ever. Firmness though is quite subjective, dependent not just on your taste, but also in your physicality. If you are a bit on the lighter side, this may feel somewhat more firm to you than others might.

It’s about Positioning

Just how does the Nectar mattress feel, that depends on what position you sleep in.

If you’re a back sleeper, then the Nectar Mattress will feel fantastic for you. It gives you the support you need while keeping your spine in a perfect neutral position. Your lumbar area however may need additional support, in case it sinks a bit deeper but otherwise, it’s terrific for back sleepers.

For side sleepers, the memory foam’s conforms itself which allows your shoulders and hips to feel relief as you shift your weight down. The uniform pressure release of the mattress counters the negative effect this sleeping position could have on your body, so this bed is looking like a great pick for this position.

Stomach sleepers may not choose this mattress. You’ll certainly feel a sink into your abdomen area with this position, and you’re going to need to be very careful with that because it might impact your body adversely over time. For those who sleep on their stomachs, we recommend that you choose a mattress that is harder than this one as it may lead to adverse effects.

Having a restless spouse on the same bed as you won’t be as cumbersome as with another mattress thanks to Nectar’s motion isolation and edge support features, so both you and your partner can move about without the other knowing. Nectar Bed Too Firm

Body Types for Nectar

For a more comprehensive breakdown, we are going to be getting into body types and how different body types respond differently to the Nectar Mattress.

The Lightweight Sleeper

As expected, a light sleeper will find the Nectar to be tough on the body. They still experienced the “hugging” sensation, but it was not a very profound one. The experience can be described as a sort of “floating” feel to it. Usually, these kinds of sleepers need a soft to firm bed if they need that deep body hug.

But if you’re a light sleeper and you’re searching for a firm bed that still has a bit of that hugging feel, then the Nectar Mattress will be great.

The Average Sleeper

The ordinary sleeper thought that the Nectar mattress was exactly as advertised — company with a deep, supportive feel that lets you sink in just enough, without it feeling like you are falling to the bed. They felt that it was a good product because no sagging was felt, the body relief it provided after a long day was superior no matter which sleeping position they went to bed in.

Heavy Sleepers

For heavy sleepers who want for something more firm, the Nectar Mattress may be the perfect fitThere’ll be a little sagging when the mattress begins to hug and shape around heavyweight sleepers, but besides that, if this firmness is your preference, it is a wonderful pick.

Sleeping on the Nectar Mattress

Although we tried to get to as much as we can with our reviewwe know actually having the ability to feel the mattress for yourself, giving it a real test is the best method to ascertain if it is for you. We can only act as a guide since, in the end of the day, it’s all about your preference.

Your right mix of everything you want and want to feel every night.

As such, there are generally 90 to 120-day sleep trials for most mattresses. Nectar desired to one-up that, and offers a 365 day test period before fully committing to it. Consider it as dating your mattress long term before putting a ring on it, as opposed to popping the question after 3 or 4 weeks.

It’s a great comfort to know that that option is there, just in case of anything.
