Before we begin, in case you’re in a rush, or just prefer a more visual review, here is a video below by Kelly and Mar from the Nectar Sleep YouTube channel:

Making Sleep Better Nectar.bed

With their headquarters in Palo Alto, California, Nectar Sleep is a bedding and mattress firm that made the Nectar Mattress as their flagship memory foam mattress.

Nectar Sleep has three mattresses with different profiles: The Nectar, which has a 12” profile; the Nectar Premier, which has a 13” profile; and the Nectar Premier Copper, which has a 14” profile. And as mentioned before it’s a three-layer, all-foam bed. It consists of a quilted cover and breathable base later, with the three layers of foam between: gel-infused memory foam, support memory foam, and high-density polyfoam. Remember, the thickness isn’t everything, so it’s good to dive into the different parts of the mattress.

Let’s dig into every aspect, shall we?

The Cover

Removable and wash friendly, the cover is made of TENCEL lyocell and cotton. Since both of the materials are pretty breathable and feel nice to the touch, you get a nice feel on your body.

The Layer for Comfort

Helping you distribute your weight for a more comfy sleep, Nectar Mattress has two layers that prioritize comfort and proper sleep posture.

The first layer is a 1-inch top layer that’s made from quilted memory foam using a 4PCF Density, while the next layer is 3 inches and is made of 3.5PCF gel memory foam. Like a gentle embrace, this layer was designed so that it feels like you are being hugged This is turn helps stops pressure points from building up, helps handle bodily aches, and may even help improve spinal alignment for side sleepers.

Transitional Layer

For the transitional layer, it’s a high-density memory foam which measures about 1.75 inches rather than the usual polyfoam other mattresses have. This improvement of the foam enhances how the mattress hugs against your body without it sagging too much.

Support Layer

And finally, the service core. It contains a 2.2 PCF High-density polyfoam that’s about 5.25 inches thick. Together with the transitional layer, the polyfoam base gives the mattress a firmer base for the softer comfort layers. As a result of this, you get a balanced, medium-firm feel without undermining the support of the mattress as a whole.

How Does It Feel?

Taking it out for a spin — or rather, for a sleep — takes some time right out of the box. We suggest you order it in the morning and start setting up hours before sleeping because it will take exactly that, hours before it’ll expand and reach its entire height.

Like a fine wine, it first needs to breathe. Nectar.bed

After letting it rest out of the box for a few hours, lying down after a long day of patiently waiting, you will feel a soft embrace start to surround you. It has a deep embrace feeling to it that people who love sleeping “in” a bed instead of “on” it will really enjoy this one.

The mattress’ firmness can be described as medium, not too tough, not to squishy, it feels perfectly balanced. A 6/10 if ever. Firmness though is very subjective, dependent not just on your preference, but also on your physicality. If you are a bit on the other hand, this may feel somewhat more firm for you than others would.

Positioning is the Key

So how does the Nectar mattress feel, depending on what position you sleep in.

If you are a back sleeper, then the Nectar Mattress will feel fantastic for you. There’s no need to worry about posture as the mattress is designed to keep you in the recommended position Your pelvic region however may need extra support, in case it sinks a bit deeper but otherwise, it’s great for back sleepers.

For side sleepers, the memory foam’s conforms itself which allows your shoulders and hips to feel relief as you shift your weight down. The uniform pressure release of the mattress counters the negative effect this sleeping place could have on your body, so this bed is looking like a wonderful choice for this position.

Stomach sleepers may not want this mattress. You’ll certainly feel a sink in your abdomen area with this position, and you’ll need to be very careful with that because it might impact your body adversely with time. For those who sleep on their stomachs, we would recommend that you choose a mattress that is firmer than this one as it may lead to adverse effects.

Couples will appreciate the bed a whole lot. Apart from being spacious enough to hold both of your comfy, moving around and changing positions will not be as annoying with your partner due to its movement isolation and edge support. Nectar.bed

Body Types for Nectar

For a more comprehensive breakdown, we are going to be getting into body types and how different body types react differently to the Nectar Mattress.

The Lightweight Sleeper

The lightweight sleeper will find the mattress to be a little firm, which is to be expected. They still experienced the “hugging” sensation, but it wasn’t a very profound one. The experience could be described as a kind of “floating” feel to it. Usually, these kinds of sleepers need a soft to firm bed if they want that deep body hug.

But if you’re a light sleeper and you’re searching for a firm mattress which still has a little that hugging feel, then the Nectar Mattress will be great.

The Average Sleeper

The ordinary sleeper discovered that the Nectar mattress was exactly as advertised — firm with a deep, supportive feel that lets you sink in just enough, without it feeling like you are falling into the bed. There was no sagging, good body relief and regardless of the sleeping place, it was great.

Heavy Sleepers

For heavy sleepers who desire for something more firm, the Nectar Mattress may be the perfect fitThere’ll be a bit of sagging when the mattress starts to hug and shape around heavyweight sleepers, but other than that, if this firmness is your preference, it’s a great pick.

Sleeping on the Nectar Mattress

Although we tried to get to as much as we could with our trial we know actually having the ability to feel the mattress on your own, giving it an actual test is the best method to ascertain whether it’s for you. As much as we would like to give you a hard recommendation, it’s still all about your own preference and we can only act as mediators of information.

Your right mix of everything you want and want to feel every evening.

As such, there are usually 90 to 120-day sleep trials for most mattresses. Nectar wanted to one-up that, and provides a 365 day test period before fully committing to it. Think of it as dating your mattress long term before proposing, rather than popping the question after 3 or 4 months.

It’s a wonderful comfort to know that that option is there, only in case of anything.
