Sleep is not a science, nor is it an art. It is a matter of precision, of getting it just right.
If you receive too little of it, it’s bad. You’re tired, you’re irate and it might be the first step to a ruined day. If you get too much of it, then you’re weirdly tired, perhaps even a bit lethargic. Lacking sleep can cause you to miss out a perfectly nice day of activities.
Preferred sleeping settings also affect the quality of sleep we get as not sleeping the perfect way can affect how well our sleep is.
To be able to wake up completely awake, everything needs to be according to plan very much like baking. In the grand scheme of things, mattresses play a large role in that. It’s one of the key ingredients in a fantastic night’s sleep.

Building Better Sleep Nectar Hybrid Mattress
With the Nectar Mattress as their flagship product, Nectar Sleep is a bedding and mattress company that is stationed in Palo Alto, California.
Nectar Sleep has three mattresses with different profiles: The Nectar, which has a 12” profile; the Nectar Premier, which has a 13” profile; and the Nectar Premier Copper, which has a 14” profile. And as mentioned earlier it’s a three-layer, all-foam bed. It has a quilted cover and breathable base later, with the three layers of foam between: gel-infused memory foam, support memory foam, and high-density polyfoam. Remember, the thickness isn’t everything, so it’s good to dive into the different parts of the mattress.
Let’s dig into every aspect, shall we?
Removable and wash friendly, the cover is made from TENCEL lyocell and cotton. You get a soft feel on your body thanks to the pretty breathable and nice to the touch materials of the mattress.
Two comfort layers work hand-in-hand to give you not only comfort, but also a balance that makes it possible to distribute your weight evenly throughout the entire mattress.
The first layer is a 1-inch top layer that is made from quilted memory foam with a 4PCF Density, while the next layer is 3 inches and is made of 3.5PCF gel memory foam. They were designed this way so that when you sleep on it, it feels like its hugging your body. This is turn helps stops pressure points from building up, can help handle bodily aches, and can help improve spinal alignment for side sleepers.
For the transitional layer, it has a high-density memory foam which measures about 1.75 inches rather than the typical polyfoam other mattresses have. This improvement of the foam enhances how the mattress hugs your body without it sagging too much.
And finally, the support core. Together with the transitional layer, the polyfoam base gives the mattress a firmer base for the softer comfort layers. Because of this, you get a balanced, medium-firm feel without compromising the support of the mattress as a whole.
How Does It Feel?
Taking it out for a spin — or rather, for a sleep — takes a while right out of the box. We suggest you order it in the morning and start setting up hours before sleeping since it will take exactly that, hours before it’ll expand and reach its entire height.
Like a good wine, it first needs to breathe. Nectar Hybrid Mattress
Once you lie down, give it a few seconds and before you know it, the memory foam will begin kicking into high gear and you will feel a soft embrace over your body. It’s a deep embrace feeling to it that those who love sleeping “in” a bed rather than “on” it will love this one.
Concerning firmness, it is around medium firmness — balanced, in that regard. A 6/10 if ever. Firmness though is very subjective, dependent not only on your preference, but also on your physicality. If you are a bit on the lighter side, this may feel somewhat more firm to you than others would.
Positioning is the Key
Just how does the Nectar mattress feel, depending on what position you sleep in.
If you’re a back sleeper, then the Nectar Mattress will feel fantastic for you. It gives you the support you need while keeping your spine in a perfect neutral position. Your lumbar area however may need additional support, if it sinks a bit deeper but it’s terrific for back sleepers.
For side sleepers, the memory foam’s sink allows your shoulders and hips to feel relief as you shift your weight down. The uniform pressure release of the mattress counters the negative impact this sleeping position could have on your body, so this bed is alreadylooking like a great choice for this position.
Stomach sleepers may not want this mattress. You’ll certainly feel a sink into your abdomen area with this position, and you’re going to have to be very careful with this since it might affect your body adversely with time. For those who sleep on their stomachs, we would recommend that you choose a mattress that is harder than this one as it may lead to adverse effects.
Having a restless spouse on the same bed as you won’t be as cumbersome as with another mattress thanks to Nectar’s motion isolation and edge support features, so both you and your partner can move about without the other finding out. Nectar Hybrid Mattress
Body Types for Nectar
For a more comprehensive breakdown, we’ll be getting into body types and how different body types react differently to the Nectar Mattress.
The Lightweight Sleeper
As expected, a light sleeper will discover the Nectar to be tough on the body. They experienced the “hugging” sensation, but it was not a very deep one. The experience can be described as a sort of “floating” feel to it. Usually, such sleepers require a soft to firm bed if they want that deep body hug.
However, if you are a light sleeper and you’re searching for a firm bed that still has a bit of that hugging feel, then the Nectar Mattress would be great.
The Average Sleeper
The ordinary sleeper discovered that the Nectar mattress was exactly as advertised — company with a deep, supportive feel that lets you sink in just enough, without it feeling like you’re falling into the bed. There was no sagging, superior body relief and regardless of the sleeping place, it was good.
For heavy sleepers who want for something more firm, the Nectar Mattress may be the perfect fitThere’ll be a little sagging when the mattress starts to hug and form around heavyweight sleepers, but other than that, if this stability is your preference, it’s a great pick.
The Sleep Test
Although we tried to get to as much as we can with our reviewwe know really being able to feel the mattress on your own, giving it a real test is the best way to determine if it is for you. We can only act as a guide because, in the end of the day, it’s all about your own preference.
Your right mix of what you need and want to feel every evening.
As such, there are generally 90 to 120-day sleep trials for most mattresses. Nectar wanted to one-up that, and offers a 365 day evaluation period before fully committing to it. Think of it as getting to know your mattress long term before putting a ring on it, rather than popping the question after 3 or 4 weeks.
It’s a great comfort to know that that option is there, only in case of anything.
