Building Better Sleep Nectar Mattress and Obesity

With their headquarters in Palo Alto, California, Nectar Sleep is a mattress and bedding company that made the Nectar Mattress as their flagship memory foam bed.

Nectar Sleep has three mattresses with different profiles: The Nectar, which has a 12” profile; the Nectar Premier, which has a 13” profile; and the Nectar Premier Copper, which has a 14” profile. And as mentioned earlier it’s a three-layer, all-foam bed. It consists of a quilted cover and breathable base later, with the three layers of foam between: gel-infused memory foam, support memory foam, and high-density polyfoam. Remember, the thickness isn’t everything, so it’s good to dive into the different parts of the mattress.

Let’s dig into each facet, shall we?

The Cover

Removable and wash friendly, the cover is made from TENCEL lyocell and cotton. Since both of the components are fairly breathable and feel nice to the touch, you get a nice feel on your body.

The Layer for Comfort

Helping you distribute your weight for a more comfy sleep, Nectar Mattress has two layers that prioritize comfort and proper sleep posture.

The first layer is a 1-inch top layer that is made of quilted memory foam with a 4PCF Density, while the second layer is 3 inches and is made of 3.5PCF gel memory foam. Like a gentle embrace, this layer was made so that it feels like you are being hugged This is turn helps stops pressure points from building up, helps manage bodily aches, and can even help improve spinal alignment for side sleepers.

Transitional Layer

For the transitional layer, it’s a high-density memory foam which measures about 1.75 inches rather than the usual polyfoam other mattresses have. Because of this technology the mattress is able to press against your sleeping body without losing any of it’s firmness.

Support Layer

And finally, the support center. Together with the transitional layer, the polyfoam base gives the mattress a firmer foundation for the softer comfort layers. Because of this, you get a balanced, medium-firm sense without compromising the support of the mattress as a whole.

How Does It Feel?

Taking it out for a spin — or rather, for a sleep — takes some time right out of the box. We suggest you purchase it in the morning and start setting up hours before sleeping since it will take exactly that, hours before it is going to expand and reach its entire height.

Like a good wine, it needs to breathe. Nectar Mattress and Obesity

As soon as you lie down, give it a few moments and before you know it, the memory foam will begin kicking into high gear and you will feel a tender embrace over your body. It’s a deep embrace feeling to it that those who love sleeping “in” a bed instead of “on” it will really enjoy this one.

The mattress’ firmness can be described as medium, not too tough, not to soft, it feels balanced. A 6/10 if ever. Firmness though is very subjective, dependent not just on your preference, but also on your physicality. If you are a bit on the lighter side, this may feel a bit more firm to you than others would.

Positioning is the Key

Just how does the Nectar mattress feel, that depends on what position you sleep in.

If you’re a back sleeper, then the Nectar Mattress will feel fantastic for you. It gives you the support you need while keeping your spine in a perfect neutral position. Your lumbar area however may need extra support, in case it sinks a bit deeper but it’s great for back sleepers.

For side sleepers, the memory foam’s conforms itself which allows your shoulders and hips to feel relief as you shift your weight down. This mattress is a perfect option for side sleepers as the uniform pressure release of the bed counters the harmful effects side sleeping might have.

Stomach sleepers may not want this mattress. You’ll certainly feel a sink in your abdomen area with this position, and you’re going to need to be very careful with this since it may affect your body adversely over time. For those who sleep on their stomachs, we recommend that you opt for a mattress that is firmer than this one as it may lead to adverse effects.

Having a restless spouse on the same mattress as you won’t be as annoying as with another mattress thanks to Nectar’s motion isolation and edge support features, so both you and your partner can move about without the other finding out. Nectar Mattress and Obesity

Body Types for Nectar

For a more comprehensive breakdown, we are going to be getting into body types and how different body types react differently to the Nectar Mattress.

The Lightweight Sleeper

The lightweight sleeper will find the mattress to be a little tough, which is to be expected. They experienced the “hugging” sensation, but it wasn’t a very deep one. The experience can be described as a sort of “floating” feel to it. Usually, these kinds of sleepers require a soft to firm bed if they need that deep body hug.

However, if you are a light sleeper and you’re looking for a firm bed that still has a bit of that hugging feel, then the Nectar Mattress will be great.

The Typical Sleeper

The average sleeper discovered that the Nectar mattress was just as advertised — firm with a deep, supportive feel that lets you sink in just enough, without it feeling like you are falling to the bed. There was no sagging, good body relief and regardless of the sleeping place, it was great.

Heavy Sleepers

For heavy sleepers who desire for something more firm, the Nectar Mattress may be the perfect fitThere’ll be a bit of sagging when the mattress starts to hug and form around heavyweight sleepers, but other than that, if this stability is your preference, it’s a wonderful pick.

Sleeping on the Nectar Mattress

Although we tried to get to as much as we can with our trial , we know really being able to feel the mattress on your own, giving it an actual test is the best way to determine whether it’s for you. As much as we would want to give you a hard recommendation, it’s still all about your own preference and we can only act as mediators of information.

Your right mix of what you want and want to feel each night.

As such, there are generally 90 to 120-day sleep trials for most mattresses. Nectar wanted to one-up that, and offers a 365 day test period before fully committing to it. It’s like properly getting to know your bed over a long period of time rather than of just after a few weeks of seeing each other.

It’s a great comfort to know that that option is there, only in case of anything.
