Sleep isn’t a science, nor is it an art. It is a matter of precision, of getting it just perfect.
If you receive too little of it, it’s bad. You’re tired, you’re irate and it might be the first step to a ruined day. If you get too much of it, you are weirdly tired, perhaps even a bit lethargic. Lacking sleep could cause you to miss out a perfectly nice day of activities.
Then there is your personal sleeping style and position to consider — because we all know if we do not sleep the ideal way, which is our own way, then something will go wrong.
Much like baking, you need to get everything to come off with that perfect batch of “sleep.” In the grand scheme of things, mattresses play a huge role in that. It is one of the key ingredients in a good night’s sleep.
And today we’re reviewing one that’s out to prove itself as one of the top mattresses on the market — The Nectar Mattress. It is a three-layer memory foam mattress with mid-level firmness to cover a broad selection of people’s sleeping preferences. High quality, smartly constructed and designed to help give you the best sleep you can ask for.

Building Better Sleep Nectar Mattress Austin
With their headquarters in Palo Alto, California, Nectar Sleep is a bedding and mattress firm that designed the Nectar Mattress as their flagship memory foam mattress.
Nectar Sleep has three mattresses with different profiles: The Nectar, which has a 12” profile; the Nectar Premier, which has a 13” profile; and the Nectar Premier Copper, which has a 14” profile. And as mentioned earlier it’s a three-layer, all-foam bed. It has a quilted cover and breathable base later, with the three layers of foam between: gel-infused memory foam, support memory foam, and high-density polyfoam. Remember, the thickness isn’t everything, so it’s good to dive into the different parts of the mattress.
Let’s dig into every facet, shall we?
Removable and wash friendly, the cover is made from TENCEL lyocell and cotton. Since both of the components are pretty breathable and feel nice to the touch, you get a nice feel on your body.
The Layer for Comfort
Helping you distribute your weight for a more comfy sleep, Nectar Mattress has two layers that prioritize comfort and proper sleep posture.
The first layer is a 1-inch top layer that is made from quilted memory foam using a 4PCF Density, while the second layer is 3 inches and is made of 3.5PCF gel memory foam. Like a gentle embrace, this layer was designed so that it feels like you are being embraced This is turn helps stops pressure points from building up, helps manage bodily aches, and may even help improve spinal alignment for side sleepers.
For the transitional layer, it’s a high-density memory foam which measures about 1.75 inches instead of the typical polyfoam other mattresses have. Because of this technology the mattress is capable of hugging your sleeping body without losing any of it’s firmness.
And finally, the service core. Along with the transitional layer, the polyfoam base gives the mattress a firmer foundation for the softer comfort layers. As a result of this, you get a balanced, medium-firm feel without undermining the support of the mattress as a whole.
How Does It Feel?
Taking it out for a spin — or rather, for a sleep — takes some time right out of the box. We suggest you purchase it in the morning and start setting up hours before sleeping since it will take precisely that, hours before it’ll expand and reach its full height.
Like a good wine, it first needs to breathe. Nectar Mattress Austin
As soon as you lie down, give it a few moments and before you know it, the memory foam will begin kicking into high gear and you’ll feel a soft embrace over your body. It’s a deep embrace feeling to it that people who love sleeping “in” a bed rather than “on” it will really enjoy this one.
The mattress’ firmness can be described as medium, not too tough, not to squishy, it feels perfectly balanced. A 6/10 if ever. Firmness though is quite subjective, dependent not only on your preference, but also on your physicality. If you are a bit on the lighter side, this may feel a bit more firm to you than others would.
Positioning is the Key
So how does the Nectar mattress feel, depending on what position you sleep in.
If you’re a back sleeper, then the Nectar Mattress will feel fantastic for you. It gives you the support you need while keeping your spine in a perfect neutral position. Your pelvic region however may need extra support, in case it sinks a bit deeper but it’s great for back sleepers.
For side sleepers, the memory foam’s sink allows your shoulders and hips to feel relief as you shift your weight down. This mattress is a perfect option for side sleepers as the uniform pressure release of the bed counters the adverse effects side sleeping might have.
Stomach sleepers may not want this mattress. You’ll certainly feel a sink in your abdomen area with this position, and you’ll need to be very careful with this since it might impact your body adversely over time. For those who sleep on their stomachs, we recommend that you choose a mattress that is harder than this one as it may lead to adverse effects.
Couples will appreciate the bed a lot. Apart from being spacious enough to hold both of your comfortable, moving around and changing positions won’t be as bothersome with your spouse due to its movement isolation and edge support. Nectar Mattress Austin
Some Bodies to Love
For a more comprehensive breakdown, we’ll be getting into body types and how different body types react differently to the Nectar Mattress.
The Lightweight Sleeper
As expected, a light sleeper will find the Nectar to be tough on the body. They still experienced the “hugging” sensation, but it wasn’t a very profound one. The experience can be described as a sort of “floating” feel to it. Usually, these kinds of sleepers require a soft to firm bed if they want that deep body hug.
But if you are a light sleeper and you’re looking for a firm bed that still has a little that hugging feel, then the Nectar Mattress will be great.
The Average Sleeper
The ordinary sleeper thought that the Nectar mattress was exactly as advertised — firm with a deep, supportive feel that lets you sink in just enough, without it feeling like you’re falling into the bed. There was no sagging, good body relief and no matter the sleeping place, it was good.
Although still very supportive, the Nectar Mattress was for those heavy sleepers who wanted something with moderate stability. There will be a bit of sagging when the mattress starts to hug and shape around heavyweight sleepers, but other than that, if this stability is your preference, it is a great pick.
The Sleep Test
Although we tried to get to as much as we could with our trial , we know really being able to feel the mattress on your own, giving it an actual test is the best method to determine if it’s for you. We can only act as a guide since, at the end of the day, it’s all about your preference.
Your right mix of what you want and want to feel each evening.
As such, there are usually 90 to 120-day sleep trials for most mattresses. Nectar wanted to one-up that, and offers a 365 day evaluation period before fully committing to it. Consider it as getting to know your mattress long term before proposing, rather than popping the question after 3 or 4 weeks.
It’s a wonderful comfort to know that that option is there, just in the event of anything.
Final Thoughts: Where Perfect Sleep Begins Nectar Mattress Austin
So is this the mattress for you?
If you’re not looking for a particularly squishy mattress, and perhaps if you are not a stomach sleeper then this may be the next and best addition to your bedroom.
With its affordable pricing, wonderful contraction, and great quality, the Nectar Mattress is a wonderful value pick. Nectar’s managed to create a memory foam with all the pros, and significantly fewer cons, which in itself makes it at least worth giving serious consideration for.
Q: How long does it take for Nectar Mattress to completely expand?
A: It will take around 24 to 72 hours for the mattress to fully expand. However, if you want you can start sleeping on it straight away. Just make certain to adjust your expectations until it’s fully expanded.
Q: If I am not satisfied, can I give back the mattress or have it replaced?
A: You can have a 100% complete refund if you would like to change it throughout the 365-night sleep trial. There is a year of being able to try the bed before you have to commit to the mattress. Pretty helpful, right? We all know how important sleep is so this refund is mighty useful!
Q: Can I fold the mattress to be able to transport it?
A: No. The Nectar mattress wasn’t supposed to be folded after growth.
Q: What’s the Forever Warranty? Does the warranty really last forever?
A: As the name implies, you will always have an active warranty for your Nectar Mattress. The company believes you should only need to put money into a mattress once in your whole life. So they want to make sure that that’s what happens with you. There are no legal loopholes, only a guarantee that in the event you want it to be, this bed is for life.
