Building Better Sleep Nectar Mattress for Joint Pain

With their headquarters in Palo Alto, California, Nectar Sleep is a bedding and mattress company that made the Nectar Mattress as their flagship memory foam bed.

Nectar Sleep has three mattresses with different profiles: The Nectar, which has a 12” profile; the Nectar Premier, which has a 13” profile; and the Nectar Premier Copper, which has a 14” profile. And as mentioned earlier it’s a three-layer, all-foam bed. It has a quilted cover and breathable base later, with the three layers of foam between: gel-infused memory foam, support memory foam, and high-density polyfoam. Remember, the thickness isn’t everything, so it’s good to dive into the different parts of the mattress.

Let’s dig into each aspect, shall we?

The Duvet

Removable and wash friendly, the cover is made from TENCEL lyocell and cotton. Since both of the materials are fairly breathable and feel nice to the touch, you get a nice feel on your body.

Comfort Layer

Helping you distribute your weight for a more comfy sleep, Nectar Mattress has two layers that prioritize comfort and proper sleep posture.

The first layer is a 1-inch top layer that is made of quilted memory foam with a 4PCF Density, while the next layer is 3 inches and is made of 3.5PCF gel memory foam. Like a gentle embrace, this layer was made so that it feels like you are being embraced This is turn helps stops pressure points from building up, helps handle bodily aches, and can even help improve spinal alignment for side sleepers.

Transitional Layer

For the transitional layer, it has a high-density memory foam that measures about 1.75 inches rather than the usual polyfoam other mattresses have. Because of this technology the mattress is able to press against your sleeping body without losing any of it’s firmness.

Support Layer

And finally, the support center. Along with the transitional layer, the polyfoam base gives the mattress a firmer base for the softer comfort layers. Because of this, you get a balanced, medium-firm feel without compromising the support of the mattress as a whole.

How Does It Feel?

Taking it out for a spin — or rather, for a sleep — takes a while right from the box. We suggest you order it in the morning and start setting up hours before sleeping since it will take exactly that, hours before it’ll expand and reach its entire height.

Like a good wine, it first needs to breathe. Nectar Mattress for Joint Pain

As soon as you lie down, give it a few seconds and before you know it, the memory foam will begin kicking into high gear and you’ll feel a soft embrace over your body. It has a deep embrace feeling to it that people who love sleeping “in” a bed instead of “on” it will really enjoy this one.

In terms of firmness, it is around medium firmness — balanced, in that regard. A 6/10 if ever. Firmness though is quite subjective, dependent not only on your taste, but also in your physicality. If you’re a bit on the other hand, this may feel a bit more firm for you than others would.

It’s about Positioning

So how does the Nectar mattress feel, depending on what position you sleep in.

If you are a back sleeper, then the Nectar Mattress will feel fantastic for you. There’s no need to worry about posture as the mattress is designed to keep you in the recommended position Your pelvic region however may need extra support, if it sinks a bit deeper but it’s terrific for back sleepers.

For side sleepers, the memory foam’s sink allows your shoulders and hips to feel relief as you shift your weight down. This mattress is a perfect choice for side sleepers as the uniform pressure release of the bed counters the harmful effects side sleeping might have.

Stomach sleepers may not want this mattress. You’ll definitely feel a sink into your abdomen area with this place, and you’ll have to be very careful with that because it might affect your body adversely with time. For those who sleep on their stomachs, we would recommend that you choose a mattress that is harder than this one as it may lead to adverse effects.

Couples will enjoy the bed a lot. Aside from being spacious enough to hold both of your comfy, moving around and changing positions will not be as annoying with your partner thanks to its motion isolation and edge support. Nectar Mattress for Joint Pain

Some Bodies to Love

For a more comprehensive breakdown, we are going to be getting into body types and how different body types respond differently to the Nectar Mattress.

The Lightweight Sleeper

As expected, a light sleeper will find the Nectar to be tough on the body. They experienced the “hugging” sensation, but it wasn’t a very profound one. The experience could be described as a kind of “floating” feel to it. Usually, such sleepers require a soft to firm bed if they want that deep body hug.

But if you are a light sleeper and you’re looking for a firm mattress which still has a bit of that hugging feel, then the Nectar Mattress will be great.

The Average Sleeper

The average sleeper discovered that the Nectar mattress was just as advertised — firm with a deep, supportive feel that lets you sink in just enough, without it feeling like you’re falling to the bed. They felt that it was a good product because no sagging was felt, the body relief it provided after a long day was superior no matter which sleeping position they went to bed in.

Heavyweight Sleepers

Although still quite supportive, the Nectar Mattress was for those heavy sleepers who wanted something with moderate stability. There will be a bit of sagging when the mattress starts to hug and form around heavyweight sleepers, but other than that, if this firmness is your preference, it is a wonderful pick.

The Sleep Test

Although we tried to cover as much as we can with our trial we know really having the ability to feel the mattress on your own, giving it an actual test is the best method to ascertain if it’s for you. We can only act as a guide since, at the end of the day, it is all about your preference.

Your right mix of everything you need and want to feel each night.

As such, there are generally 90 to 120-day sleep trials for most mattresses. Nectar desired to one-up that, and offers a 365 day evaluation period before fully committing to it. Think of it as getting to know your mattress long term before putting a ring on it, rather than popping the question after 3 or 4 months.

It’s a great comfort to know that option is there, only in the event of anything.
