Building Better Sleep Nectar Mattress Quiz
With their headquarters in Palo Alto, California, Nectar Sleep is a mattress and bedding company that designed the Nectar Mattress as their flagship memory foam bed.
Nectar Sleep has three mattresses with different profiles: The Nectar, which has a 12” profile; the Nectar Premier, which has a 13” profile; and the Nectar Premier Copper, which has a 14” profile. And as mentioned before it is a three-layer, all-foam bed. It consists of a quilted cover and breathable base later, with the three layers of foam between: gel-infused memory foam, support memory foam, and high-density polyfoam. Remember, the thickness isn’t everything, so it’s good to dive into the different parts of the mattress.
Let’s dig into each aspect, shall we?
Removable and wash friendly, the cover is made from TENCEL lyocell and cotton. You get a wonderful feel on your body thanks to the fairly breathable and nice to the touch materials of the mattress.
Two comfort layers work hand-in-hand to provide you not only comfort, but also a balance that makes it possible to distribute your weight evenly throughout the entire mattress.
The first layer is a 1-inch top layer that is made from quilted memory foam using a 4PCF Density, while the next layer is 3 inches and is made of 3.5PCF gel memory foam. They were created this way so that when you sleep on it, it seems like its embracing your body. This is turn helps stops pressure points from building up, helps handle bodily aches, and may help improve spinal alignment for side sleepers.
For the transitional layer, it has a high-density memory foam which measures about 1.75 inches instead of the usual polyfoam other mattresses have. Thanks to this technology the mattress is able to press against your sleeping body without losing any of it’s firmness.
And finally, the support center. It consists of a 2.2 PCF High-density polyfoam that’s about 5.25 inches thick. Along with the transitional layer, the polyfoam base gives the mattress a firmer foundation for the softer comfort layers. As a result of this, you get a balanced, medium-firm sense without undermining the support of the mattress as a whole.
What’s it like?
Giving it a whirl, or more accurately, a rest, will require some prep time when you open it out of the packaging. We suggest you order it in the morning and begin setting up hours before sleeping since it will take precisely that, hours before it is going to expand and reach its full height.
Like a fine wine, it needs to breathe. Nectar Mattress Quiz
As soon as you lie down, give it a few moments and before you know it, the memory foam will start kicking into high gear and you will feel a tender embrace over your body. It has a deep embrace feeling to it that those who love sleeping “in” a bed instead of “on” it will really enjoy this one.
In terms of firmness, it is around medium firmness — balanced, in that regard. A 6/10 if ever. Firmness though is very subjective, dependent not just on your taste, but also in your physicality. If you are a bit on the other hand, this may feel a bit more firm to you than others would.
It’s about Positioning
Just how does the Nectar mattress feel, depending on what position you sleep in.
If you are a back sleeper, then the Nectar Mattress will feel fantastic for you. It gives you the support you need while keeping your spine in a perfect neutral position. Your pelvic region however may need extra support, in case it sinks a bit deeper but it’s terrific for back sleepers.
For side sleepers, the memory foam’s conforms itself which allows your shoulders and hips to feel relief as you shift your weight down. The uniform pressure release of the mattress counters the negative effect this sleeping place could have on your body, so this bed is looking like a great pick for this position.
Stomach sleepers may not want this mattress. You’ll certainly feel a sink into your abdomen area with this place, and you’re going to have to be very careful with this since it might affect your body adversely over time. For those who sleep on their stomachs, we recommend that you choose a mattress that is firmer than this one as it may lead to adverse effects.
Having a restless spouse on the same mattress as you won’t be as cumbersome as with another mattress thanks to Nectar’s motion isolation and edge support features, so both you and your partner can move about without the other knowing. Nectar Mattress Quiz
Some Bodies to Love
For a more comprehensive breakdown, we are going to be getting into body types and how different body types respond differently to the Nectar Mattress.
The Lightweight Sleeper
The lightweight sleeper will find the mattress quite little tough, which is to be expected. They still experienced the “hugging” sensation, but it was not a very profound one. The experience could be described as a sort of “floating” feel to it. Usually, these kinds of sleepers require a soft to firm bed if they need that deep body hug.
However, if you’re a light sleeper and you’re looking for a firm bed that still has a bit of that hugging feel, then the Nectar Mattress will be great.
The Average Sleeper
The average sleeper thought that the Nectar mattress was just as advertised — firm with a deep, supportive feel that lets you sink in just enough, without it feeling like you are falling into the bed. They felt that it was a good product because no sagging was felt, the body relief it provided after a long day was great no matter which sleeping position they went to bed in.
For heavy sleepers who desire for something more firm, the Nectar Mattress may be the perfect fitThere will be a little sagging when the mattress begins to hug and shape around heavyweight sleepers, but besides that, if this firmness is your preference, it’s a great pick.
The Sleep Test
Although we tried to cover as much as we could with our reviewwe know really being able to feel the mattress for yourself, giving it a real test is the best method to determine whether it’s for you. As much as we would like to give you a hard recommendation, it’s still all about your preference and we can only act as mediators of information.
Your right mix of everything you need and want to feel each evening.
As such, there are generally 90 to 120-day sleep trials for most mattresses. Nectar desired to one-up that, and offers a 365 day test period before fully committing to it. Consider it as getting to know your mattress long term before putting a ring on it, rather than popping the question after 3 or 4 weeks.
It’s a great comfort to know that option is there, just in the event of anything.
