Building Better Sleep Nectar Mattress Returns

With the Nectar Mattress as their flagship product, Nectar Sleep is a bedding and mattress firm that is stationed in Palo Alto, California.

Nectar Sleep has three mattresses with different profiles: The Nectar, which has a 12” profile; the Nectar Premier, which has a 13” profile; and the Nectar Premier Copper, which has a 14” profile. And as mentioned earlier it’s a three-layer, all-foam bed. It has a quilted cover and breathable base later, with the three layers of foam between: gel-infused memory foam, support memory foam, and high-density polyfoam. Remember, the thickness isn’t everything, so it’s good to dive into the different parts of the mattress.

Let’s dig into each aspect, shall we?

The Cover

Removable and wash friendly, the cover is made of TENCEL lyocell and cotton. You get a soft feel on your body thanks to the pretty breathable and nice to the touch components of the mattress.

Comfort Layer

Two comfort layers work hand-in-hand to provide you not just comfort, but also a balance that makes it possible to distribute your weight evenly throughout the entire mattress.

The first layer is a 1-inch top layer that’s made of quilted memory foam with a 4PCF Density, while the second layer is 3 inches and is made of 3.5PCF gel memory foam. They were created this way so that when you sleep on it, it feels like its embracing your body. This is turn helps stops pressure points from building up, helps handle bodily aches, and may even help improve spinal alignment for side sleepers.

Transitional Layer

For the transitional layer, it’s a high-density memory foam which measures about 1.75 inches instead of the typical polyfoam other mattresses have. Thanks to this technology the mattress is capable of hugging your sleeping body without losing any of it’s firmness.

Support Layer

And finally, the support core. It consists of a 2.2 PCF High-density polyfoam that is about 5.25 inches thick. Together with the transitional layer, the polyfoam base gives the mattress a firmer base for the softer comfort layers. Because of this, you receive a balanced, medium-firm feel without undermining the support of the mattress as a whole.

What’s it like?

Giving it a whirl, or more accurately, a rest, will need some prep time when you open it out of the packaging. We suggest you order it in the morning and begin setting up hours before sleeping because it is going to take exactly that, hours before it’ll expand and reach its full height.

Like a fine wine, it needs to breathe. Nectar Mattress Returns

After letting it rest out of the box for a few hours, trying it out after a long day of impatiently waiting, you will feel a soft embrace start to surround you. It’s a deep hug feeling to it that people who love sleeping “in” a bed rather than “on” it will love this one.

The mattress’ firmness can be described as medium, not too tough, not to squishy, it feels perfectly balanced. A 6/10 if ever. Firmness though is very subjective, dependent not only on your preference, but also on your physicality. If you’re a bit on the lighter side, this may feel a bit more firm to you than others would.

Positioning is the Key

So how does the Nectar mattress feel, depending on what position you sleep in.

If you are a back sleeper, then the Nectar Mattress will feel fantastic for you. There’s no need to think about comfort as the mattress is designed to keep you in the recommended position Your lumbar area however may need extra support, in case it sinks a bit deeper but it’s great for back sleepers.

For side sleepers, the memory foam’s sink allows your shoulders and hips to feel relief as you shift your weight down. The uniform pressure release of the mattress really counters the negative effect this sleeping place could have on your body, so this bed is alreadylooking like a great pick for this position.

Stomach sleepers may not choose this mattress. You’ll definitely feel a sink in your abdomen area with this position, and you’re going to need to be very careful with this since it may affect your body adversely with time. For those who sleep on their stomachs, we recommend that you choose a mattress that is firmer than this one as it may lead to adverse effects.

Having a restless partner on the same bed as you won’t be as cumbersome as with another mattress thanks to Nectar’s motion isolation and edge support features, so both you and your partner can move about without the other knowing. Nectar Mattress Returns

Body Types for Nectar

For a more comprehensive breakdown, we are going to be getting into body types and how different body types respond differently to the Nectar Mattress.

The Lightweight Sleeper

The lightweight sleeper will discover the mattress quite small firm, which is to be expected. They experienced the “hugging” sensation, but it was not a very profound one. The experience can be described as a sort of “floating” feel to it. Usually, such sleepers require a soft to firm bed if they want that deep body hug.

But if you are a light sleeper and you’re looking for a firm mattress which still has a little that hugging feel, then the Nectar Mattress will be great.

The Average Sleeper

The ordinary sleeper discovered that the Nectar mattress was exactly as advertised — firm with a deep, supportive feel that lets you sink in just enough, without it feeling like you are falling to the bed. There was no sagging, good body relief and no matter the sleeping position, it was great.

Heavyweight Sleepers

For heavy sleepers who desire for something more firm, the Nectar Mattress may be the perfect fitThere will be a bit of sagging when the mattress starts to hug and form around heavyweight sleepers, but besides that, if this firmness is your preference, it’s a wonderful pick.

Sleeping on the Nectar Mattress

Although we tried to cover as much as we could with our review, we know really being able to feel the mattress on your own, giving it an actual test is the best way to determine whether it’s for you. We can only act as a guide since, in the end of the day, it’s all about your preference.

Your right mix of what you need and want to feel every evening.

As such, there are generally 90 to 120-day sleep trials for most mattresses. Nectar desired to one-up that, and offers a 365 day evaluation period before fully committing to it. Think of it as dating your mattress long term before putting a ring on it, rather than popping the question after 3 or 4 weeks.

It’s a great comfort to know that that option is there, just in case of anything.
