Building Better Sleep Nectar Mattress Sinking

With their headquarters in Palo Alto, California, Nectar Sleep is a bedding and mattress firm that made the Nectar Mattress as their flagship memory foam bed.

Nectar Sleep has three mattresses with different profiles: The Nectar, which has a 12” profile; the Nectar Premier, which has a 13” profile; and the Nectar Premier Copper, which has a 14” profile. And as mentioned earlier it’s a three-layer, all-foam bed. It has a quilted cover and breathable base later, with the three layers of foam between: gel-infused memory foam, support memory foam, and high-density polyfoam. Remember, the thickness isn’t everything, so it’s good to dive into the different parts of the mattress.

Let’s dig into every aspect, shall we?

The Cover

Removable and wash friendly, the cover is made from TENCEL lyocell and cotton. Since both of the materials are pretty breathable and feel nice to the touch, you get a nice feel on your body.

The Layer for Comfort

Two comfort layers work hand-in-hand to give you not just comfort, but also a balance that makes it possible to distribute your weight evenly throughout the entire mattress.

The first layer is a 1-inch top layer that is made of quilted memory foam with a 4PCF Density, while the next layer is 3 inches and is made of 3.5PCF gel memory foam. Like a gentle embrace, this layer was designed so that it emulats like you are being embraced This is turn helps stops pressure points from building up, can help handle bodily aches, and can even help improve spinal alignment for side sleepers.

Transitional Layer

For the transitional layer, it has a high-density memory foam that measures about 1.75 inches rather than the typical polyfoam other mattresses have. Thanks to this technology the mattress is able to press against your sleeping body without losing any of it’s firmness.

Support Layer

And finally, the service center. It contains a 2.2 PCF High-density polyfoam that is about 5.25 inches thick. Together with the transitional layer, the polyfoam base gives the mattress a firmer base for the softer comfort layers. As a result of this, you get a balanced, medium-firm sense without undermining the support of the mattress as a whole.

How Does It Feel?

Giving it a whirl, or more accurately, a rest, will need some prep time when you take it out of the box. We suggest you purchase it in the morning and start setting up hours before sleeping because it will take exactly that, hours before it is going to expand and reach its full height.

Like a fine wine, it first needs to breathe. Nectar Mattress Sinking

After letting it rest out of the box for a few hours, lying down after a long day of impatiently waiting, you will feel a soft embrace start to surround you. It’s a deep embrace feeling to it that people who love sleeping “in” a bed rather than “on” it will love this one.

Concerning firmness, it’s around medium firmness — balanced, in that regard. A 6/10 if ever. Firmness though is very subjective, dependent not only on your preference, but also on your physicality. If you’re a bit on the lighter side, this may feel a bit more firm for you than others might.

Positioning is the Key

So how does the Nectar mattress feel, depending on what position you sleep in.

If you’re a back sleeper, then the Nectar Mattress will feel fantastic for you. It gives you the support you need while keeping your spine in a perfect neutral position. Your pelvic region however may need additional support, if it sinks a bit deeper but it’s terrific for back sleepers.

For side sleepers, the memory foam’s conforms itself which allows your shoulders and hips to feel relief as you shift your weight down. This mattress is a great option for side sleepers as the uniform pressure release of the bed counters the harmful effects side sleeping might have.

Stomach sleepers may not want this mattress. You’ll definitely feel a sink into your abdomen area with this position, and you’ll have to be very careful with this since it might impact your body adversely with time. A firmer mattress might be better suited to people who like sleeping this way.

Couples will appreciate the bed a lot. Apart from being spacious enough to hold both of your comfy, moving around and changing positions will not be as bothersome with your spouse due to its motion isolation and edge support. Nectar Mattress Sinking

Body Types for Nectar

For a more comprehensive breakdown, we’ll be getting into body types and how different body types react differently to the Nectar Mattress.

The Lightweight Sleeper

The lightweight sleeper will discover the mattress quite small firm, which is to be expected. They still experienced the “hugging” sensation, but it wasn’t a very profound one. The experience could be described as a kind of “floating” feel to it. Usually, these kinds of sleepers require a soft to firm bed if they want that deep body hug.

But if you’re a light sleeper and you’re looking for a firm bed that still has a bit of that hugging feel, then the Nectar Mattress would be great.

The Average Sleeper

The ordinary sleeper discovered that the Nectar mattress was just as advertised — firm with a deep, supportive feel that lets you sink in just enough, without it feeling like you’re falling to the bed. They felt that it was a good product because no sagging was felt, the body relief it provided after a long day was great regardless of which sleeping position they went to bed in.

Heavy Sleepers

Although still very supportive, the Nectar Mattress was for those heavy sleepers who wanted something with moderate stability. There’ll be a bit of sagging when the mattress starts to hug and shape around heavyweight sleepers, but other than that, if this stability is your preference, it is a wonderful pick.

Sleeping on the Nectar Mattress

Although we tried to get to as much as we could with our trial we know really having the ability to feel the mattress on your own, giving it an actual test is the best way to ascertain if it’s for you. We can only act as a guide because, at the end of the day, it is all about your preference.

Your right mix of everything you want and want to feel each evening.

As such, there are usually 90 to 120-day sleep trials for most mattresses. Nectar wanted to one-up that, and provides a 365 day evaluation period before fully committing to it. Think of it as getting to know your mattress long term before putting a ring on it, rather than popping the question after 3 or 4 months.

It’s a wonderful comfort to know that option is there, just in case of anything.
