Before we begin, in case you’re in a rush, or just prefer a more visual review, here is a video below by Kelly and Mar from the Nectar Sleep YouTube channel:

Building Better Sleep Nectar Mattress Tuck

With their headquarters in Palo Alto, California, Nectar Sleep is a mattress and bedding firm that made the Nectar Mattress as their flagship memory foam mattress.

Nectar Sleep has three mattresses with different profiles: The Nectar, which has a 12” profile; the Nectar Premier, which has a 13” profile; and the Nectar Premier Copper, which has a 14” profile. And as mentioned before it is a three-layer, all-foam bed. It consists of a quilted cover and breathable base later, with the three layers of foam between: gel-infused memory foam, support memory foam, and high-density polyfoam. Remember, the thickness isn’t everything, so it’s good to dive into the different parts of the mattress.

Let’s dig into every aspect, shall we?

The Duvet

Removable and wash friendly, the cover is made from TENCEL lyocell and cotton. Since both of the components are fairly breathable and feel nice to the touch, you get a wonderful feel on your body.

The Layer for Comfort

Helping you distribute your weight for a more comfy sleep, Nectar Mattress has two layers that takes into account comfort and proper sleep posture.

The first layer is a 1-inch top layer that’s made of quilted memory foam using a 4PCF Density, while the next layer is 3 inches and is made of 3.5PCF gel memory foam. They were created this way so that when you sleep on it, it feels like its hugging your body. This is turn helps stops pressure points from building up, helps manage bodily aches, and can even help improve spinal alignment for side sleepers.

Transitional Layer

For the transitional layer, it has a high-density memory foam which measures about 1.75 inches rather than the typical polyfoam other mattresses have. Thanks to this technology the mattress is capable of hugging your sleeping body without losing any of it’s firmness.

Support Layer

And finally, the service core. It contains a 2.2 PCF High-density polyfoam that’s about 5.25 inches thick. Together with the transitional layer, the polyfoam base gives the mattress a firmer base for the softer comfort layers. As a result of this, you receive a balanced, medium-firm feel without compromising the support of the mattress as a whole.

What’s it like?

Taking it out for a spin — or rather, for a sleep — takes some time right from the box. We suggest you order it in the morning and start setting up hours before sleeping because it is going to take exactly that, hours before it is going to expand and reach its full height.

Like a fine wine, it first needs to breathe. Nectar Mattress Tuck

After letting it rest out of the box for a few hours, lying down after a long day of patiently waiting, you will feel a soft embrace start to surround you. It’s a deep embrace feeling to it that people who love sleeping “in” a bed instead of “on” it will really enjoy this one.

Concerning firmness, it is around medium firmness — balanced, in that respect. A 6/10 if ever. Firmness though is very subjective, dependent not just on your preference, but also on your physicality. If you’re a bit on the lighter side, this may feel somewhat more firm for you than others might.

Positioning is the Key

Just how does the Nectar mattress feel, depending on what position you sleep in.

If you are a back sleeper, then the Nectar Mattress will feel fantastic for you. There’s no need to worry about posture as the mattress is designed to keep you in the perfect position Your lumbar area however may need extra support, in case it sinks a bit deeper but it’s great for back sleepers.

For side sleepers, the memory foam’s conforms itself which allows your shoulders and hips to feel relief as you shift your weight down. This mattress is a perfect option for side sleepers as the uniform pressure release of the bed counters the harmful effects side sleeping might have.

Stomach sleepers may not choose this mattress. You’ll definitely feel a sink in your abdomen area with this position, and you’ll need to be very careful with this because it may impact your body adversely with time. For those who sleep on their stomachs, we recommend that you opt for a mattress that is harder than this one as it may lead to adverse effects.

Having a restless partner on the same mattress as you won’t be as cumbersome as with another mattress thanks to Nectar’s motion isolation and edge support features, so both you and your partner can move about without the other finding out. Nectar Mattress Tuck

Body Types for Nectar

For a more comprehensive breakdown, we’ll be getting into body types and how different body types react differently to the Nectar Mattress.

The Lightweight Sleeper

As expected, a light sleeper will find the Nectar to be firm on the body. They experienced the “hugging” sensation, but it wasn’t a very profound one. The experience can be described as a kind of “floating” feel to it. Usually, such sleepers require a soft to firm bed if they want that deep body hug.

But if you’re a light sleeper and you’re searching for a firm mattress which still has a little that hugging feel, then the Nectar Mattress would be great.

The Average Sleeper

The ordinary sleeper discovered that the Nectar mattress was just as advertised — company with a deep, supportive feel that lets you sink in just enough, without it feeling like you are falling to the bed. They felt that it was a good product because no sagging was felt, the body relief it provided after a long day was great regardless of which sleeping position they went to bed in.

Heavy Sleepers

Although still quite supportive, the Nectar Mattress was more for those heavy sleepers who wanted something with medium firmness. There will be a little sagging when the mattress starts to hug and form around heavyweight sleepers, but besides that, if this stability is your preference, it’s a great pick.

Sleeping on the Nectar Mattress

Although we tried to get to as much as we can with our review, we know really having the ability to feel the mattress for yourself, giving it an actual test is the best way to determine if it’s for you. We can only act as a guide since, in the end of the day, it is all about your preference.

Your right mix of what you need and want to feel every night.

As such, there are generally 90 to 120-day sleep trials for most mattresses. Nectar wanted to one-up that, and offers a 365 day test period before fully committing to it. Think of it as getting to know your mattress long term before proposing, rather than popping the question after 3 or 4 months.

It’s a great comfort to know that option is there, only in case of anything.
