Building Better Sleep Nectar or Regular Mattress Protector

With their headquarters in Palo Alto, California, Nectar Sleep is a bedding and mattress company that made the Nectar Mattress as their flagship memory foam mattress.

Nectar Sleep has three mattresses with different profiles: The Nectar, which has a 12” profile; the Nectar Premier, which has a 13” profile; and the Nectar Premier Copper, which has a 14” profile. And as mentioned before it’s a three-layer, all-foam bed. It has a quilted cover and breathable base later, with the three layers of foam between: gel-infused memory foam, support memory foam, and high-density polyfoam. Remember, the thickness isn’t everything, so it’s good to dive into the different parts of the mattress.

Let’s dig into each aspect, shall we?

The Duvet

Removable and wash friendly, the cover is made from TENCEL lyocell and cotton. You get a wonderful feel on your body thanks to the fairly breathable and nice to the touch materials of the mattress.

Comfort Layer

Two comfort layers work hand-in-hand to give you not only comfort, but also a balance that helps you distribute your weight evenly throughout the entire mattress.

The first layer is a 1-inch top layer that is made of quilted memory foam using a 4PCF Density, while the second layer is 3 inches and is made of 3.5PCF gel memory foam. Like a gentle embrace, this layer was made so that it feels like you are being embraced This is turn helps stops pressure points from building up, helps handle bodily aches, and may help improve spinal alignment for side sleepers.

Transitional Layer

For the transitional layer, it’s a high-density memory foam that measures about 1.75 inches rather than the typical polyfoam other mattresses have. Because of this technology the mattress is capable of hugging your sleeping body without losing any of it’s firmness.

Support Layer

And finally, the support core. Together with the transitional layer, the polyfoam base gives the mattress a firmer base for the softer comfort layers. Because of this, you get a balanced, medium-firm feel without compromising the support of the mattress as a whole.

What’s it like?

Taking it out for a spin — or rather, for a sleep — takes a while right out of the box. We suggest you order it in the morning and begin setting up hours before sleeping since it will take exactly that, hours before it’ll expand and reach its entire height.

Like a fine wine, it first needs to breathe. Nectar or Regular Mattress Protector

After letting it rest out of the box for a few hours, trying it out after a long day of patiently waiting, you will feel a soft embrace start to surround you. It has a deep embrace feeling to it that people who love sleeping “in” a bed instead of “on” it will love this one.

In terms of firmness, it is around medium firmness — balanced, in that respect. A 6/10 if ever. Firmness though is very subjective, dependent not only on your preference, but also on your physicality. If you are a bit on the lighter side, this may feel a bit more firm for you than others might.

Positioning is the Key

So how does the Nectar mattress feel, depending on what position you sleep in.

If you’re a back sleeper, then the Nectar Mattress will feel fantastic for you. There’s no need to think about comfort as the mattress is designed to keep you in the perfect position Your lumbar area however may need extra support, in case it sinks a bit deeper but it’s great for back sleepers.

For side sleepers, the memory foam’s conforms itself which allows your shoulders and hips to feel relief as you shift your weight down. This mattress is a great option for side sleepers as the uniform pressure release of the bed counters the harmful effects side sleeping might have.

Stomach sleepers may not want this mattress. You’ll certainly feel a sink in your abdomen area with this position, and you’ll need to be very careful with that since it might affect your body adversely over time. A firmer mattress might be better suited to those who like sleeping this way.

Having a restless spouse on the same mattress as you won’t be as annoying as with another mattress thanks to Nectar’s motion isolation and edge support features, so both you and your partner can wiggle about without the other finding out. Nectar or Regular Mattress Protector

Some Bodies to Love

For a more comprehensive breakdown, we are going to be getting into body types and how different body types react differently to the Nectar Mattress.

The Lightweight Sleeper

As expected, a light sleeper will discover the Nectar to be firm on the body. They experienced the “hugging” sensation, but it wasn’t a very profound one. The experience could be described as a sort of “floating” feel to it. Usually, such sleepers require a soft to firm bed if they want that deep body hug.

However, if you’re a light sleeper and you’re searching for a firm mattress which still has a bit of that hugging feel, then the Nectar Mattress will be great.

The Typical Sleeper

The average sleeper discovered that the Nectar mattress was exactly as advertised — firm with a deep, supportive feel that lets you sink in just enough, without it feeling like you’re falling into the bed. They felt that it was a good product because no sagging was felt, the body relief it provided after a long day was great no matter which sleeping position they went to bed in.

Heavy Sleepers

Although still quite supportive, the Nectar Mattress was more for those heavy sleepers who wanted something with medium firmness. There will be a little sagging when the mattress begins to hug and form around heavyweight sleepers, but besides that, if this stability is your preference, it is a great pick.

The Sleep Test

Although we tried to get to as much as we can with our reviewwe know actually having the ability to feel the mattress for yourself, giving it an actual test is the best method to determine if it is for you. We can only act as a guide because, at the end of the day, it is all about your preference.

Your right mix of what you need and want to feel every evening.

As such, there are usually 90 to 120-day sleep trials for most mattresses. Nectar wanted to one-up that, and offers a 365 day evaluation period before fully committing to it. It’s like properly courting your mattress over a long period of time instead of just after a few weeks of seeing each other.

It’s a great comfort to know that option is there, only in the event of anything.
