Building Better Sleep Purple Mattress Versus Nectar Mattress

With their headquarters in Palo Alto, California, Nectar Sleep is a bedding and mattress firm that designed the Nectar Mattress as their flagship memory foam bed.

The height of the mattress will depend on which type you’ll choose. There’s The Nectar, which is a 12″ profile; the Nectar Premier, which has a 13″ profile; and the Nectar Premier Copper, which has a 14″ profile. All mattresses have the signature three-layer all-foam bed which consists of a gel memory foam, dynamic support memory foam, and high-core memory foam; these three layers are sandwiched by a quilted cool cover and a Shift-resistant lower cover. Remember, the thickness isn’t everything, so it’s good to dive into the different parts of the mattress.

Let’s dig into each facet, shall we?

The Duvet

Removable and wash friendly, the cover is made from TENCEL lyocell and cotton. You get a soft feel on your body thanks to the fairly breathable and nice to the touch components of the mattress.

The Layer for Comfort

Making it possible to distribute your weight for a more comfy sleep, Nectar Mattress has two layers that prioritize comfort and proper sleep posture.

The first layer is a 1-inch top layer that’s made from quilted memory foam using a 4PCF Density, while the second layer is 3 inches and is made of 3.5PCF gel memory foam. Like a gentle embrace, this layer was designed so that it feels like you are being hugged This is turn helps stops pressure points from building up, helps manage bodily aches, and may help improve spinal alignment for side sleepers.

Transitional Layer

For the transitional layer, it’s a high-density memory foam that measures about 1.75 inches instead of the usual polyfoam other mattresses have. Because of this technology the mattress is capable of hugging your sleeping body without losing any of it’s firmness.

Support Layer

And finally, the support core. It contains a 2.2 PCF High-density polyfoam that is about 5.25 inches thick. Along with the transitional layer, the polyfoam base gives the mattress a firmer foundation for the softer comfort layers. Because of this, you receive a balanced, medium-firm sense without undermining the support of the mattress as a whole.

How Does It Feel?

Giving it a whirl, or more accurately, a rest, will need some prep time when you take it out of the packaging. We suggest you order it in the morning and start setting up hours before sleeping since it will take exactly that, hours before it is going to expand and reach its entire height.

Like a good wine, it first needs to breathe. Purple Mattress Versus Nectar Mattress

Once you lie down, give it a few moments and before you know it, the memory foam will begin kicking into high gear and you will feel a tender embrace over your body. It has a deep hug feeling to it that people who love sleeping “in” a bed instead of “on” it will love this one.

In terms of firmness, it’s around medium firmness — balanced, in that regard. A 6/10 if ever. Firmness though is very subjective, dependent not only on your taste, but also on your physicality. If you’re a bit on the lighter side, this may feel somewhat more firm to you than others might.

Positioning is the Key

So how does the Nectar mattress feel, depending on what position you sleep in.

If you’re a back sleeper, then the Nectar Mattress will feel fantastic for you. There’s no need to worry about posture as the mattress is designed to keep you in the recommended position Your lumbar area however may need extra support, if it sinks a bit deeper but otherwise, it’s great for back sleepers.

For side sleepers, the memory foam’s sink allows your shoulders and hips to feel relief as you shift your weight down. The uniform pressure release of the mattress counters the negative effect this sleeping place could have on your body, so this bed is looking like a great choice for this position.

Stomach sleepers may not choose this mattress. You’ll certainly feel a sink into your abdomen area with this position, and you’re going to need to be very careful with that since it may affect your body adversely with time. A firmer mattress might be better suited to people who like sleeping this way.

Having a restless partner on the same mattress as you won’t be as annoying as with another mattress thanks to Nectar’s motion isolation and edge support features, so both you and your partner can wiggle about without the other knowing. Purple Mattress Versus Nectar Mattress

Some Bodies to Love

For a more comprehensive breakdown, we are going to be getting into body types and how different body types respond differently to the Nectar Mattress.

The Lightweight Sleeper

As expected, a light sleeper will discover the Nectar to be firm on the body. They still experienced the “hugging” sensation, but it wasn’t a very profound one. The experience could be described as a kind of “floating” feel to it. Usually, such sleepers require a soft to firm bed if they need that deep body hug.

However, if you’re a light sleeper and you’re looking for a firm bed that still has a bit of that hugging feel, then the Nectar Mattress will be great.

The Typical Sleeper

The ordinary sleeper thought that the Nectar mattress was just as advertised — company with a deep, supportive feel that lets you sink in just enough, without it feeling like you’re falling to the bed. There was no sagging, superior body relief and regardless of the sleeping place, it was great.

Heavyweight Sleepers

Although still very supportive, the Nectar Mattress was for those heavy sleepers who wanted something with moderate stability. There will be a bit of sagging when the mattress starts to hug and shape around heavyweight sleepers, but besides that, if this firmness is your preference, it’s a great pick.

The Sleep Test

Although we tried to get to as much as we could with our trial , we know really having the ability to feel the mattress on your own, giving it a real test is the best method to determine whether it is for you. We can only act as a guide because, in the end of the day, it is all about your own preference.

Your right mix of what you need and want to feel each evening.

As such, there are usually 90 to 120-day sleep trials for most mattresses. Nectar wanted to one-up that, and offers a 365 day evaluation period before fully committing to it. It’s like properly courting your bed over a long period of time instead of just after a few months of seeing each other.

It’s a great comfort to know that option is there, just in the event of anything.
