Like Goldilocks taste in soup, sleep is all about finding out which mattress is just right for you.
If you receive too little of it, it’s bad. You’re tired, you’re irate and it might be the first step to a ruined day. If you get too much of it, then you’re weirdly tired, perhaps even a little lethargic. Lacking sleep could cause you to miss out a perfectly nice day of commitments.
Then there’s your personal sleeping style and position to think about — because all of us know if we do not sleep the right way, which is our own way, then something will go wrong.
Much like baking, you need to get everything right, to come off with that perfect batch of “sleep.” In the grand scheme of things, mattresses play a large role in that. It’s one of the key ingredients in a good night’s sleep.
And today we are reviewing one that’s out to prove itself as one of the best mattresses on the market — The Nectar Mattress. It is a three-layer memory foam mattress with mid-level toughness to cover a wide selection of people’s sleeping preferences. High quality, smartly constructed and designed to help give you the best sleep you can ask for.
Does it succeed? Is it all that? We’re here to help you find out.
Before anything else, in case you’re in a rush, or just prefer a more visual review, here is a video below by Kelly and Mar from the Nectar Sleep YouTube channel:

With the Nectar Mattress as their flagship product, Nectar Sleep is a bedding and mattress company that is stationed in Palo Alto, California.
Nectar Sleep has three mattresses with different profiles: The Nectar, which has a 12” profile; the Nectar Premier, which has a 13” profile; and the Nectar Premier Copper, which has a 14” profile. And as mentioned earlier it is a three-layer, all-foam bed. It consists of a quilted cover and breathable base later, with the three layers of foam between: gel-infused memory foam, support memory foam, and high-density polyfoam. Remember, the thickness isn’t everything, so it’s good to dive into the different parts of the mattress.
Let’s dig into each aspect, shall we?
Removable and wash friendly, the cover is made from TENCEL lyocell and cotton. Since both of the components are fairly breathable and feel nice to the touch, you get a nice feel on your body.
Making it possible to distribute your weight for a more comfy sleep, Nectar Mattress has two layers that takes into account comfort and proper sleep posture.
The first layer is a 1-inch top layer that is made of quilted memory foam using a 4PCF Density, while the second layer is 3 inches and is made of 3.5PCF gel memory foam. They were created this way so that when you sleep on it, it feels like its embracing your body. This is turn helps stops pressure points from building up, can help manage bodily aches, and may help improve spinal alignment for side sleepers.
For the transitional layer, it’s a high-density memory foam that measures about 1.75 inches rather than the usual polyfoam other mattresses have. This improvement of the foam enhances the way the mattress hugs against your body without sagging too much.
And finally, the service core. It consists of a 2.2 PCF High-density polyfoam that’s about 5.25 inches thick. Together with the transitional layer, the polyfoam base gives the mattress a firmer base for the softer comfort layers. Because of this, you receive a balanced, medium-firm feel without undermining the support of the mattress as a whole.
How Does It Feel?
Giving it a whirl, or more accurately, a rest, will require some prep time when you open it out of the packaging. We suggest you order it in the morning and start setting up hours before sleeping since it is going to take precisely that, hours before it’ll expand and reach its full height.
Like a fine wine, it first needs to breathe. Ron Nectar Mattress Ron
After letting it rest out of the box for a few hours, lying down after a long day of patiently waiting, you will feel a tender embrace start to surround you. It’s a deep embrace feeling to it that those who love sleeping “in” a bed instead of “on” it will really enjoy this one.
The mattress’ firmness can be described as medium, not too tough, not to squishy, it feels perfectly balanced. A 6/10 if ever. Firmness though is quite subjective, dependent not only on your preference, but also on your physicality. If you are a bit on the lighter side, this may feel somewhat more firm to you than others might.
Positioning is the Key
Just how does the Nectar mattress feel, depending on what position you sleep in.
If you are a back sleeper, then the Nectar Mattress will feel fantastic for you. It gives you the support you need while keeping your spine in a nice neutral position. Your lumbar area however may need additional support, if it sinks a bit deeper but it’s great for back sleepers.
For side sleepers, the memory foam’s sink allows your shoulders and hips to feel relief as you shift your weight down. This mattress is a great option for side sleepers as the uniform pressure release of the bed counters the harmful effects side sleeping might have.
Stomach sleepers may not choose this mattress. You’ll definitely feel a sink into your abdomen area with this place, and you’ll have to be very careful with this since it may impact your body adversely over time. For those who sleep on their stomachs, we recommend that you choose a mattress that is firmer than this one as it may lead to adverse effects.
Having a restless partner on the same mattress as you won’t be as cumbersome as with another mattress thanks to Nectar’s motion isolation and edge support features, so both you and your partner can move about without the other knowing. Ron Nectar Mattress Ron
Body Types for Nectar
For a more comprehensive breakdown, we are going to be getting into body types and how different body types react differently to the Nectar Mattress.
The Lightweight Sleeper
As expected, a light sleeper will find the Nectar to be firm on the body. They still experienced the “hugging” sensation, but it was not a very deep one. The experience can be described as a sort of “floating” feel to it. Usually, such sleepers require a soft to firm bed if they want that deep body hug.
But if you’re a light sleeper and you’re searching for a firm bed that still has a little that hugging feel, then the Nectar Mattress will be great.
The Average Sleeper
The average sleeper thought that the Nectar mattress was exactly as advertised — firm with a deep, supportive feel that lets you sink in just enough, without it feeling like you are falling into the bed. There was no sagging, good body relief and regardless of the sleeping place, it was good.
For heavy sleepers who desire for something more firm, the Nectar Mattress may be the perfect fitThere’ll be a little sagging when the mattress starts to hug and form around heavyweight sleepers, but besides that, if this firmness is your preference, it is a great pick.
Sleeping on the Nectar Mattress
Although we tried to get to as much as we could with our trial , we know actually being able to feel the mattress on your own, giving it an actual test is the best method to ascertain whether it is for you. As much as we would want to give you a decision, it’s still all about your preference and we can only act as mediators of information.
Your right mix of what you want and want to feel each evening.
As such, there are generally 90 to 120-day sleep trials for most mattresses. Nectar wanted to one-up that, and offers a 365 day test period before fully committing to it. It’s like properly courting your mattress over a long period of time instead of just after a few weeks of seeing each other.
It’s a great comfort to know that option is there, only in the event of anything.
