Building Better Sleep Rotating a Nectar Mattress

With their headquarters in Palo Alto, California, Nectar Sleep is a mattress and bedding company that designed the Nectar Mattress as their flagship memory foam bed.

The height of the mattress will depend on which type you’ll choose. There’s The Nectar, which is a 12″ profile; the Nectar Premier, which has a 13″ profile; and the Nectar Premier Copper, which has a 14″ profile. All mattresses have the signature three-layer all-foam bed which has a gel memory foam, dynamic support memory foam, and high-core memory foam; these three layers are sandwiched by a quilted cool cover and a Shift-resistant lower cover. Remember, the thickness isn’t everything, so it’s good to dive into the different parts of the mattress.

Let’s dig into each aspect, shall we?

The Cover

Removable and wash friendly, the cover is made of TENCEL lyocell and cotton. Since both of the components are pretty breathable and feel nice to the touch, you get a nice feel on your body.

The Layer for Comfort

Two comfort layers work hand-in-hand to provide you not just comfort, but also a balance that makes it possible to distribute your weight evenly throughout the entire mattress.

The first layer is a 1-inch top layer that’s made of quilted memory foam using a 4PCF Density, while the second layer is 3 inches and is made of 3.5PCF gel memory foam. They were created this way so that when you sleep on it, it feels like its hugging your body. This is turn helps stops pressure points from building up, can help manage bodily aches, and may help improve spinal alignment for side sleepers.

Transitional Layer

For the transitional layer, it’s a high-density memory foam that measures about 1.75 inches instead of the usual polyfoam other mattresses have. Thanks to this technology the mattress is able to press against your sleeping body without losing any of it’s firmness.

Support Layer

And finally, the service core. It consists of a 2.2 PCF High-density polyfoam that is about 5.25 inches thick. Along with the transitional layer, the polyfoam base gives the mattress a firmer foundation for the softer comfort layers. Because of this, you get a balanced, medium-firm sense without compromising the support of the mattress as a whole.

How Does It Feel?

Taking it out for a spin — or rather, for a sleep — takes a while right from the box. We suggest you order it in the morning and start setting up hours before sleeping because it will take exactly that, hours before it’ll expand and reach its entire height.

Like a fine wine, it needs to breathe. Rotating a Nectar Mattress

Once you lie down, give it a few moments and before you know it, the memory foam will begin kicking into high gear and you will feel a soft embrace over your body. It has a deep hug feeling to it that people who love sleeping “in” a bed rather than “on” it will love this one.

Concerning firmness, it’s around medium firmness — balanced, in that respect. A 6/10 if ever. Firmness though is quite subjective, dependent not just on your taste, but also in your physicality. If you are a bit on the other hand, this may feel somewhat more firm to you than others would.

It’s about Positioning

Just how does the Nectar mattress feel, that depends on what position you sleep in.

If you’re a back sleeper, then the Nectar Mattress will feel fantastic for you. It gives you the support you need while keeping your spine in a nice neutral position. Your lumbar area however may need additional support, if it sinks a bit deeper but otherwise, it’s great for back sleepers.

For side sleepers, the memory foam’s sink allows your shoulders and hips to feel relief as you shift your weight down. This mattress is a perfect option for side sleepers as the uniform pressure release of the bed counters the adverse effects side sleeping might have.

Stomach sleepers may not want this mattress. You’ll certainly feel a sink into your abdomen area with this position, and you’re going to need to be very careful with that because it might affect your body adversely with time. A firmer mattress may be better suited to those who like sleeping this way.

Couples will enjoy the bed a lot. Apart from being spacious enough to hold both of your comfy, moving around and changing positions will not be as bothersome with your partner due to its motion isolation and edge support. Rotating a Nectar Mattress

Some Bodies to Love

For a more comprehensive breakdown, we are going to be getting into body types and how different body types respond differently to the Nectar Mattress.

The Lightweight Sleeper

As expected, a light sleeper will find the Nectar to be firm on the body. They still experienced the “hugging” sensation, but it wasn’t a very profound one. The experience could be described as a sort of “floating” feel to it. Usually, such sleepers need a soft to firm bed if they want that deep body hug.

However, if you are a light sleeper and you’re searching for a firm mattress which still has a little that hugging feel, then the Nectar Mattress would be great.

The Typical Sleeper

The average sleeper discovered that the Nectar mattress was exactly as advertised — firm with a deep, supportive feel that lets you sink in just enough, without it feeling like you’re falling into the bed. They felt that it was a good product because no sagging was felt, the body relief it provided after a long day was great no matter which sleeping position they went to bed in.

Heavy Sleepers

Although still very supportive, the Nectar Mattress was more for those heavy sleepers who wanted something with medium firmness. There will be a bit of sagging when the mattress begins to hug and form around heavyweight sleepers, but besides that, if this firmness is your preference, it is a great pick.

Sleeping on the Nectar Mattress

Although we tried to cover as much as we can with our reviewwe know actually being able to feel the mattress on your own, giving it a real test is the best way to determine if it is for you. We can only act as a guide since, in the end of the day, it’s all about your preference.

Your right mix of everything you want and want to feel each night.

As such, there are generally 90 to 120-day sleep trials for most mattresses. Nectar wanted to one-up that, and provides a 365 day evaluation period before fully committing to it. Think of it as dating your mattress long term before proposing, as opposed to popping the question after 3 or 4 weeks.

It’s a great comfort to know that that option is there, only in case of anything.
