Sleep is not a science, nor is it an art. It’s a matter of precision, of getting it just right.

If you get too little of it, it is bad. You’re tired, you are irate and it might be the first step to a ruined day. If you get too much of it, then you are weirdly tired, maybe even a bit lethargic. Lacking sleep can cause you to miss out a perfectly nice day of activities.

Then there’s your individual sleeping style and position to consider — because all of us know if we don’t sleep the right way, which is our own way, then something will go wrong.

Much like baking, you need to get everything right, to come off with that perfect batch of “sleep.” In the grand scheme of things, mattresses play a large part in that. It is one of the important ingredients in a good night’s sleep.

And today we are reviewing one that’s out to prove itself as one of the top mattresses out there — The Nectar Mattress. It is a three-layer memory foam mattress with mid-level firmness to cover a broad selection of people’s sleeping preferences. Building Better Sleep The Nectar Mattress Protecto

With their headquarters in Palo Alto, California, Nectar Sleep is a mattress and bedding firm that made the Nectar Mattress as their flagship memory foam mattress.

Nectar Sleep has three mattresses with different profiles: The Nectar, which has a 12” profile; the Nectar Premier, which has a 13” profile; and the Nectar Premier Copper, which has a 14” profile. And as mentioned earlier it is a three-layer, all-foam bed. It consists of a quilted cover and breathable base later, with the three layers of foam between: gel-infused memory foam, support memory foam, and high-density polyfoam. Remember, the thickness isn’t everything, so it’s good to dive into the different parts of the mattress.

Let’s dig into each aspect, shall we?

The Duvet

Removable and wash friendly, the cover is made of TENCEL lyocell and cotton. Since both of the components are fairly breathable and feel nice to the touch, you get a wonderful feel on your body.

The Layer for Comfort

Two comfort layers work hand-in-hand to provide you not only comfort, but also a balance that helps you distribute your weight evenly throughout the whole mattress.

The first layer is a 1-inch top layer that’s made of quilted memory foam using a 4PCF Density, while the second layer is 3 inches and is made of 3.5PCF gel memory foam. Like a gentle embrace, this layer was designed so that it emulats like you are being embraced This is turn helps stops pressure points from building up, helps manage bodily aches, and may help improve spinal alignment for side sleepers.

Transitional Layer

For the transitional layer, it’s a high-density memory foam that measures about 1.75 inches rather than the usual polyfoam other mattresses have. This improvement of the foam enhances the way the mattress hugs your body without sagging too much.

Support Layer

And finally, the service core. Along with the transitional layer, the polyfoam base gives the mattress a firmer foundation for the softer comfort layers. Because of this, you get a balanced, medium-firm feel without undermining the support of the mattress as a whole.

What’s it like?

Giving it a whirl, or more accurately, a rest, will require some prep time when you open it out of the packaging. We suggest you purchase it in the morning and begin setting up hours before sleeping because it will take precisely that, hours before it is going to expand and reach its full height.

Like a fine wine, it needs to breathe. The Nectar Mattress Protecto

After letting it rest out of the box for a few hours, trying it out after a long day of impatiently waiting, you will feel a soft embrace start to surround you. It’s a deep embrace feeling to it that those who love sleeping “in” a bed rather than “on” it will really enjoy this one.

The mattress’ firmness can be described as medium, not too tough, not to soft, it feels balanced. A 6/10 if ever. Firmness though is very subjective, dependent not only on your preference, but also in your physicality. If you are a bit on the other hand, this may feel somewhat more firm to you than others might.

It’s about Positioning

Just how does the Nectar mattress feel, depending on what position you sleep in.

If you’re a back sleeper, then the Nectar Mattress will feel fantastic for you. There’s no need to think about posture as the mattress is designed to keep you in the perfect position Your lumbar area however may need extra support, if it sinks a bit deeper but otherwise, it’s terrific for back sleepers.

For side sleepers, the memory foam’s sink allows your shoulders and hips to feel relief as you shift your weight down. This mattress is a great choice for side sleepers as the uniform pressure release of the bed counters the harmful effects side sleeping might have.

Stomach sleepers may not want this mattress. You’ll definitely feel a sink in your abdomen area with this position, and you’re going to need to be very careful with that since it might impact your body adversely over time. A firmer mattress may be better suited to those who like sleeping this way.

Having a restless partner on the same mattress as you won’t be as cumbersome as with another mattress thanks to Nectar’s motion isolation and edge support features, so both you and your partner can wiggle about without the other knowing. The Nectar Mattress Protecto

Some Bodies to Love

For a more comprehensive breakdown, we are going to be getting into body types and how different body types respond differently to the Nectar Mattress.

The Lightweight Sleeper

As expected, a light sleeper will discover the Nectar to be tough on the body. They still experienced the “hugging” sensation, but it wasn’t a very deep one. The experience could be described as a kind of “floating” feel to it. Usually, such sleepers need a soft to firm bed if they want that deep body hug.

However, if you’re a light sleeper and you’re looking for a firm mattress which still has a little that hugging feel, then the Nectar Mattress will be great.

The Average Sleeper

The average sleeper discovered that the Nectar mattress was exactly as advertised — company with a deep, supportive feel that lets you sink in just enough, without it feeling like you are falling to the bed. There was no sagging, good body relief and no matter the sleeping position, it was good.

Heavyweight Sleepers

Although still very supportive, the Nectar Mattress was for those heavy sleepers who wanted something with moderate stability. There’ll be a bit of sagging when the mattress begins to hug and shape around heavyweight sleepers, but other than that, if this firmness is your preference, it is a wonderful pick.

The Sleep Test

Although we tried to cover as much as we could with our trial , we know actually being able to feel the mattress for yourself, giving it an actual test is the best way to determine whether it’s for you. As much as we would want to give you a hard recommendation, it’s still all about your own preference and we can only act as mediators of information.

Your right mix of everything you want and want to feel each night.

As such, there are generally 90 to 120-day sleep trials for most mattresses. Nectar wanted to one-up that, and provides a 365 day evaluation period before fully committing to it. Consider it as getting to know your mattress long term before proposing, as opposed to popping the question after 3 or 4 weeks.

It’s a wonderful comfort to know that option is there, only in case of anything.

Final Thoughts: Where Dreams Begin The Nectar Mattress Protecto

So is this the mattress for you?

If the bed you are looking for is one that’s not too firm, as well as you aren’t a stomach sleeper, then the Nectar Mattress may as well be the perfect addition to your sleeping apparatus.

Thanks to the cost-efficient materials that supply a affordable price and equally as great comfort, Nectar’s mattress is great option for your bedroom Nectar’s managed to create a memory foam with all the pros, and significantly fewer drawbacks, which in itself already makes it worth giving serious consideration for.
