Making Sleep Better Unboxing Nectar Mattress
With their headquarters in Palo Alto, California, Nectar Sleep is a bedding and mattress company that made the Nectar Mattress as their flagship memory foam bed.
Nectar Sleep has three mattresses with different profiles: The Nectar, which has a 12” profile; the Nectar Premier, which has a 13” profile; and the Nectar Premier Copper, which has a 14” profile. And as mentioned earlier it’s a three-layer, all-foam bed. It has a quilted cover and breathable base later, with the three layers of foam between: gel-infused memory foam, support memory foam, and high-density polyfoam. Remember, the thickness isn’t everything, so it’s good to dive into the different parts of the mattress.
Let’s dig into every aspect, shall we?
Removable and wash friendly, the cover is made from TENCEL lyocell and cotton. You get a wonderful feel on your body thanks to the fairly breathable and nice to the touch materials of the mattress.
The Layer for Comfort
Two comfort layers work hand-in-hand to provide you not just comfort, but also a balance that helps you distribute your weight evenly throughout the entire mattress.
The first layer is a 1-inch top layer that is made of quilted memory foam with a 4PCF Density, while the second layer is 3 inches and is made of 3.5PCF gel memory foam. They were designed this way so that when you sleep on it, it feels like its embracing your body. This is turn helps stops pressure points from building up, can help handle bodily aches, and can help improve spinal alignment for side sleepers.
For the transitional layer, it has a high-density memory foam that measures about 1.75 inches instead of the usual polyfoam other mattresses have. Thanks to this technology the mattress is able to press against your sleeping body without losing any of it’s firmness.
And finally, the service core. It consists of a 2.2 PCF High-density polyfoam that is about 5.25 inches thick. Together with the transitional layer, the polyfoam base gives the mattress a firmer base for the softer comfort layers. As a result of this, you get a balanced, medium-firm sense without compromising the support of the mattress as a whole.
What’s it like?
Taking it out for a spin — or rather, for a sleep — takes a while right from the box. We suggest you purchase it in the morning and begin setting up hours before sleeping because it will take exactly that, hours before it’ll expand and reach its full height.
Like a good wine, it needs to breathe. Unboxing Nectar Mattress
After letting it rest out of the box for a few hours, lying down after a long day of patiently waiting, you will feel a tender embrace start to surround you. It’s a deep hug feeling to it that those who love sleeping “in” a bed rather than “on” it will really enjoy this one.
The mattress’ firmness can be described as medium, not too tough, not to squishy, it feels perfectly balanced. A 6/10 if ever. Firmness though is very subjective, dependent not just on your preference, but also on your physicality. If you are a bit on the lighter side, this may feel somewhat more firm for you than others would.
Positioning is the Key
So how does the Nectar mattress feel, depending on what position you sleep in.
If you’re a back sleeper, then the Nectar Mattress will feel fantastic for you. There’s no need to worry about comfort as the mattress is designed to keep you in the perfect position Your pelvic region however may need additional support, in case it sinks a bit deeper but it’s terrific for back sleepers.
For side sleepers, the memory foam’s conforms itself which allows your shoulders and hips to feel relief as you shift your weight down. The uniform pressure release of the mattress counters the negative impact this sleeping position could have on your body, so this bed is alreadylooking like a great choice for this position.
Stomach sleepers may not choose this mattress. You’ll certainly feel a sink in your abdomen area with this position, and you’re going to have to be very careful with this because it might affect your body adversely over time. For those who sleep on their stomachs, we would recommend that you choose a mattress that is harder than this one as it may lead to adverse effects.
Couples will enjoy the bed a whole lot. Aside from being spacious enough to hold both of your comfy, moving around and changing positions will not be as annoying with your partner due to its movement isolation and edge support. Unboxing Nectar Mattress
Some Bodies to Love
For a more comprehensive breakdown, we’ll be getting into body types and how different body types react differently to the Nectar Mattress.
The Lightweight Sleeper
As expected, a light sleeper will find the Nectar to be tough on the body. They experienced the “hugging” sensation, but it was not a very profound one. The experience could be described as a sort of “floating” feel to it. Usually, these kinds of sleepers need a soft to firm bed if they want that deep body hug.
But if you are a light sleeper and you’re searching for a firm bed that still has a bit of that hugging feel, then the Nectar Mattress would be great.
The Average Sleeper
The ordinary sleeper thought that the Nectar mattress was just as advertised — firm with a deep, supportive feel that lets you sink in just enough, without it feeling like you are falling to the bed. There was no sagging, good body relief and no matter the sleeping place, it was good.
For heavy sleepers who want for something more firm, the Nectar Mattress may be the perfect fitThere’ll be a little sagging when the mattress begins to hug and shape around heavyweight sleepers, but besides that, if this stability is your preference, it’s a great pick.
The Sleep Test
Although we tried to get to as much as we can with our reviewwe know really being able to feel the mattress for yourself, giving it an actual test is the best way to ascertain whether it is for you. We can only act as a guide because, at the end of the day, it is all about your own preference.
Your right mix of what you need and want to feel every evening.
As such, there are generally 90 to 120-day sleep trials for most mattresses. Nectar desired to one-up that, and offers a 365 day test period before fully committing to it. Think of it as dating your mattress long term before putting a ring on it, as opposed to popping the question after 3 or 4 weeks.
It’s a great comfort to know that option is there, only in case of anything.
