Sleep isn’t a science, nor is it an art. It’s a matter of precision, of getting it just right.

If you get too little of it, it is bad. You’re tired, you’re irate and it might be the first step to a ruined day. If you get too much of it, then you’re weirdly tired, maybe even a little lethargic. Lacking sleep can cause you to miss out a perfectly nice day of activities.

Then there is your personal sleeping style and position to think about — because all of us know if we don’t sleep the right way, which is our own way, then something will fail.

Much like baking, you have to get everything right, to come away with that perfect batch of “sleep.” In the grand scheme of things, mattresses play a huge role in that. It’s one of the key ingredients in a good night’s sleep.

Building Better Sleep What is a Nectar Bed

With their headquarters in Palo Alto, California, Nectar Sleep is a mattress and bedding firm that made the Nectar Mattress as their flagship memory foam bed.

Nectar Sleep has three mattresses with different profiles: The Nectar, which has a 12” profile; the Nectar Premier, which has a 13” profile; and the Nectar Premier Copper, which has a 14” profile. And as mentioned before it is a three-layer, all-foam bed. It consists of a quilted cover and breathable base later, with the three layers of foam between: gel-infused memory foam, support memory foam, and high-density polyfoam. Remember, the thickness isn’t everything, so it’s good to dive into the different parts of the mattress.

Let’s dig into every aspect, shall we?

The Cover

Removable and wash friendly, the cover is made of TENCEL lyocell and cotton. You get a soft feel on your body thanks to the fairly breathable and nice to the touch materials of the mattress.

Comfort Layer

Two comfort layers work hand-in-hand to give you not only comfort, but also a balance that makes it possible to distribute your weight evenly throughout the entire mattress.

The first layer is a 1-inch top layer that’s made from quilted memory foam with a 4PCF Density, while the next layer is 3 inches and is made of 3.5PCF gel memory foam. Like a gentle embrace, this layer was made so that it feels like you are being hugged This is turn helps stops pressure points from building up, helps handle bodily aches, and may even help improve spinal alignment for side sleepers.

Transitional Layer

For the transitional layer, it has a high-density memory foam which measures about 1.75 inches instead of the typical polyfoam other mattresses have. This improvement of the foam enhances the way the mattress hugs against your body without it sagging too much.

Support Layer

And finally, the service core. Together with the transitional layer, the polyfoam base gives the mattress a firmer foundation for the softer comfort layers. As a result of this, you receive a balanced, medium-firm feel without compromising the support of the mattress as a whole.

How Does It Feel?

Giving it a whirl, or more accurately, a rest, will require some prep time when you open it out of the box. We suggest you order it in the morning and start setting up hours before sleeping since it is going to take exactly that, hours before it is going to expand and reach its full height.

Like a good wine, it needs to breathe. What is a Nectar Bed

After letting it rest out of the box for a few hours, lying down after a long day of patiently waiting, you will feel a tender embrace start to surround you. It’s a deep embrace feeling to it that those who love sleeping “in” a bed rather than “on” it will love this one.

The mattress’ firmness can be described as medium, not too tough, not to soft, it feels balanced. A 6/10 if ever. Firmness though is quite subjective, dependent not only on your taste, but also on your physicality. If you are a bit on the lighter side, this may feel a bit more firm to you than others might.

It’s All About Positioning

Just how does the Nectar mattress feel, depending on what position you sleep in.

If you are a back sleeper, then the Nectar Mattress will feel fantastic for you. There’s no need to think about comfort as the mattress is designed to keep you in the recommended position Your lumbar area however may need additional support, in case it sinks a bit deeper but it’s great for back sleepers.

For side sleepers, the memory foam’s sink allows your shoulders and hips to feel relief as you shift your weight down. This mattress is a great option for side sleepers as the uniform pressure release of the bed counters the adverse effects side sleeping might have.

Stomach sleepers may not choose this mattress. You’ll certainly feel a sink into your abdomen area with this position, and you’re going to have to be very careful with that because it might affect your body adversely over time. A firmer mattress might be better suited to people who like sleeping this way.

Couples will appreciate the bed a lot. Aside from being spacious enough to hold both of your comfy, moving around and changing positions will not be as annoying with your spouse due to its movement isolation and edge support. What is a Nectar Bed

Some Bodies to Love

For a more comprehensive breakdown, we are going to be getting into body types and how different body types respond differently to the Nectar Mattress.

The Lightweight Sleeper

The lightweight sleeper will discover the mattress to be a little firm, which is to be expected. They experienced the “hugging” sensation, but it wasn’t a very deep one. The experience can be described as a sort of “floating” feel to it. Usually, such sleepers need a soft to firm bed if they want that deep body hug.

But if you are a light sleeper and you’re looking for a firm bed that still has a bit of that hugging feel, then the Nectar Mattress would be great.

The Average Sleeper

The ordinary sleeper thought that the Nectar mattress was just as advertised — firm with a deep, supportive feel that lets you sink in just enough, without it feeling like you are falling to the bed. They felt that it was a good product because no sagging was felt, the body relief it provided after a long day was great regardless of which sleeping position they went to bed in.

Heavyweight Sleepers

For heavy sleepers who desire for something more firm, the Nectar Mattress may be the perfect fitThere’ll be a little sagging when the mattress begins to hug and shape around heavyweight sleepers, but other than that, if this stability is your preference, it is a great pick.

Sleeping on the Nectar Mattress

Although we tried to get to as much as we could with our trial , we know actually having the ability to feel the mattress on your own, giving it an actual test is the best way to determine whether it is for you. We can only act as a guide since, at the end of the day, it is all about your own preference.

Your right mix of everything you want and want to feel every evening.

As such, there are usually 90 to 120-day sleep trials for most mattresses. Nectar desired to one-up that, and offers a 365 day test period before fully committing to it. Consider it as getting to know your mattress long term before proposing, as opposed to popping the question after 3 or 4 months.

It’s a wonderful comfort to know that that option is there, only in case of anything.
