Sleep isn’t a science, nor is it an art. It’s a matter of precision, of getting it just perfect.

If you get too little of it, it is bad. You’re tired, you are irate and it could be the first step to a ruined day. If you get too much of it, you’re weirdly tired, maybe even a little lethargic. You may have missed a few calls, or perhaps even a meet up with a buddy, and your day’s wasted.

Preferred sleeping positions also affect the type of sleep we get as not sleeping the perfect way can affect how well our sleep is.

Much like baking, you need to get everything right, to come off with that perfect batch of “sleep.” In the grand scheme of things, mattresses play a large role in that. It’s one of the important ingredients in a good night’s sleep.

Making Sleep Better Which is Better Nectar or Casper Mattress

With their headquarters in Palo Alto, California, Nectar Sleep is a mattress and bedding company that made the Nectar Mattress as their flagship memory foam mattress.

Nectar Sleep has three mattresses with different profiles: The Nectar, which has a 12” profile; the Nectar Premier, which has a 13” profile; and the Nectar Premier Copper, which has a 14” profile. And as mentioned earlier it’s a three-layer, all-foam bed. It has a quilted cover and breathable base later, with the three layers of foam between: gel-infused memory foam, support memory foam, and high-density polyfoam. Remember, the thickness isn’t everything, so it’s good to dive into the different parts of the mattress.

Let’s dig into every aspect, shall we?

The Duvet

Removable and wash friendly, the cover is made of TENCEL lyocell and cotton. You get a soft feel on your body thanks to the fairly breathable and nice to the touch components of the mattress.

Comfort Layer

Two comfort layers work hand-in-hand to give you not only comfort, but also a balance that helps you distribute your weight evenly throughout the whole mattress.

The first layer is a 1-inch top layer that’s made of quilted memory foam with a 4PCF Density, while the next layer is 3 inches and is made of 3.5PCF gel memory foam. They were designed this way so that when you sleep on it, it seems like its embracing your body. This is turn helps stops pressure points from building up, can help manage bodily aches, and can help improve spinal alignment for side sleepers.

Transitional Layer

For the transitional layer, it’s a high-density memory foam which measures about 1.75 inches rather than the usual polyfoam other mattresses have. Because of this technology the mattress is able to press against your sleeping body without losing any of it’s firmness.

Support Layer

And finally, the service core. Together with the transitional layer, the polyfoam base gives the mattress a firmer base for the softer comfort layers. Because of this, you receive a balanced, medium-firm feel without compromising the support of the mattress as a whole.

What’s it like?

Taking it out for a spin — or rather, for a sleep — takes some time right from the box. We suggest you purchase it in the morning and start setting up hours before sleeping because it is going to take exactly that, hours before it’ll expand and reach its entire height.

Like a good wine, it first needs to breathe. Which is Better Nectar or Casper Mattress

After letting it rest out of the box for a few hours, trying it out after a long day of patiently waiting, you will feel a soft embrace start to surround you. It’s a deep hug feeling to it that those who love sleeping “in” a bed rather than “on” it will really enjoy this one.

The mattress’ firmness can be described as medium, not too tough, not to squishy, it feels perfectly balanced. A 6/10 if ever. Firmness though is quite subjective, dependent not just on your preference, but also in your physicality. If you are a bit on the other hand, this may feel a bit more firm for you than others might.

It’s All About Positioning

So how does the Nectar mattress feel, depending on what position you sleep in.

If you are a back sleeper, then the Nectar Mattress will feel fantastic for you. It gives you the support you need while keeping your spine in a perfect neutral position. Your lumbar area however may need extra support, if it sinks a bit deeper but it’s great for back sleepers.

For side sleepers, the memory foam’s sink allows your shoulders and hips to feel relief as you shift your weight down. This mattress is a great option for side sleepers as the uniform pressure release of the bed counters the harmful effects side sleeping might have.

Stomach sleepers may not want this mattress. You’ll definitely feel a sink into your abdomen area with this position, and you’re going to have to be very careful with that since it may affect your body adversely over time. A firmer mattress may be better suited to those who like sleeping this way.

Couples will appreciate the bed a whole lot. Aside from being spacious enough to hold both of your comfy, moving around and changing positions will not be as annoying with your spouse due to its motion isolation and edge support. Which is Better Nectar or Casper Mattress

Some Bodies to Love

For a more comprehensive breakdown, we’ll be getting into body types and how different body types respond differently to the Nectar Mattress.

The Lightweight Sleeper

The lightweight sleeper will discover the mattress to be a small tough, which is to be expected. They experienced the “hugging” sensation, but it was not a very deep one. The experience could be described as a sort of “floating” feel to it. Usually, such sleepers require a soft to firm bed if they want that deep body hug.

However, if you are a light sleeper and you’re searching for a firm bed that still has a little that hugging feel, then the Nectar Mattress will be great.

The Average Sleeper

The average sleeper thought that the Nectar mattress was just as advertised — firm with a deep, supportive feel that lets you sink in just enough, without it feeling like you are falling into the bed. They felt that it was a good product because no sagging was felt, the body relief it provided after a long day was great no matter which sleeping position they went to bed in.

Heavyweight Sleepers

Although still quite supportive, the Nectar Mattress was more for those heavy sleepers who wanted something with moderate stability. There’ll be a bit of sagging when the mattress begins to hug and form around heavyweight sleepers, but besides that, if this stability is your preference, it is a great pick.

The Sleep Test

Although we tried to cover as much as we could with our trial we know really being able to feel the mattress for yourself, giving it a real test is the best way to ascertain whether it’s for you. As much as we would like to give you a hard recommendation, it’s still all about your preference and we can only act as mediators of information.

Your right mix of everything you need and want to feel every night.

As such, there are generally 90 to 120-day sleep trials for most mattresses. Nectar wanted to one-up that, and offers a 365 day test period before fully committing to it. It’s like properly getting to know your bed over a long period of time instead of just after a few months of seeing each other.

It’s a wonderful comfort to know that option is there, only in case of anything.

Final Thoughts: Where Dreams Begin Which is Better Nectar or Casper Mattress

So is this the mattress for you?
